摘要: A honeycomb structure includes a plurality of honeycomb fired bodies and an adhesive layer. The plurality of honeycomb fired body has a longitudinal direction and a plurality of cell walls extending along the longitudinal direction to define a plurality of cells. The adhesive layer is provided between the plurality of honeycomb fired bodies to connect the honeycomb fired bodies. Pore diameters of pores in the adhesive layer are about 300 μm or less. A ratio of a total area of pores having a pore diameter of at least about 50 μm and at most about 300 μm and an aspect ratio of at least about 1 and at most about 1.5 in a cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction to a total area of pores having a pore diameter of at least about 50 μm and at most about 300 μm is about 90% or more.

The honeycomb structural body of the present invention is a pillar-shaped honeycomb structural body that is mainly composed of inorganic fibers and has a structure in that a large number of through holes are placed in parallel with one another in the length direction with a partition wall interposed therebetween. Herein, the inorganic fibers, which form the honeycomb structural body, are arranged in such a manner that more fibers are aligned along a face perpendicular to the forming direction of the through holes rather than aligned along a face in parallel with the forming direction of the through holes.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a honeycomb structural body which makes it possible to prevent a thermal stress from concentrating on plugs for sealing a group of inlet-side through holes and the vicinity thereof during a regenerating process, and consequently to prevent occurrence of cracks. The honeycomb structural body of the present invention is a pillar-shaped honeycomb structural body mainly made of porous ceramics, in which a plurality of through holes are placed in parallel with one another in the length direction with a partition wall interposed therebetween. Herein, the through holes are constituted by a group of inlet-side through holes, whose ends are sealed by plugs at the outlet side such that the total sum of areas on cross sections perpendicular to the length direction is made relatively greater, and a group of outlet-side through holes, whose ends are sealed by plugs at the inlet side such that the total sum of areas on the cross sections thereof is made relatively smaller. 摘要: A method for manufacturing a honeycomb structure includes mixing inorganic particles, at least one of inorganic fibers and inorganic whiskers, and an inorganic binder solution to prepare a raw material composition. The method further includes manufacturing a pillar-shaped honeycomb molded body by extrusion-molding the raw material composition, and firing the molded body to manufacture a honeycomb fired body. The molded body has a large number of cells disposed in substantially parallel with one another in a longitudinal direction with a cell wall therebetween. A blending amount of the inorganic binder solution is about 30 to about 60% by weight to the total amount of the inorganic particles, at least one of the inorganic fibers and the inorganic whiskers, and the inorganic binder solution. A concentration of the inorganic binder solution is about 35 to about 50% by weight.
