A high temperature wear resistant sintered alloy suitable for the material of a valve seat in an automotive vehicle engine. The matrix of the sintered alloy consists essentially of carbon ranging from 0.45 to 1.15% by weight, nickel ranging from 5.4 to 27% by weight, molybdenum ranging form 0.4 to 2.7% by weight, cobalt ranging from 4.2 to 7.2% by weight and balance being substantially iron. The matrix is formed of a mixture of at least one of sorbite structure and bainite structure and austenite structure. Furthermore, the matrix includes hard phase dispersed therein and containing at least silicon, molybdenum and cobalt. The sintered alloy of such a structure can exhibit high strength and wear resistance at high temperatures regardless of type of engine and kind of fuel in case of being used as the material of the valve seat, while maintaining production cost thereof lower.

The transmission control unit has a shift map for determining the gear depending on the vehicle speed and the accelerator opening degree of the engine, and, further, has a mode-judging means for judging an acceleration mode period and a deceleration mode period depending on the operating conditions of an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal. In the deceleration mode period after the driver has depressed the brake pedal, the shift-up is prohibited (S9), and a gear region in the map for shift down is corrected in a direction in which the vehicle speed increases (S2, S3) to execute the shift-down early. In the deceleration mode period, therefore, the braking force based on the engine brake acts on the vehicle to a sufficient degree, and the frequency for operating the brake pedal by the driver can be decreased.

Optical film thickness of each of transparent conductive films PXR, PXG, and PXB to constitute pixels (a product “nd” of refractive index “n” and film thickness “d”) is varied for each of color filters RF, GF, and BF for each pixel. The transparent conductive film is prepared by coating an ink (produced by dispersing fine particles of a transparent conductive film material such as ITO in a binder) via nozzle of an ink jet device, and then, by baking. Film thickness is controlled by the coating amount of the ink, and refractive index is controlled by volume ratio of the fine particles of conductive material to the binder contained in the transparent conductive film in consideration of those refractive indices.

A steam engine of this invention is simply constituted and efficiently obtains mechanical energy not only from a heat source of a high temperature but also from the exhaust heat of an internal combustion engine and various kinds of heat sources of a low-temperature state such as the solar heat. In the engine, a rotor (5) comprising a folded jet pipe (51) is rotatably supported in a sealed container (1) filled with a liquid. A heating portion (9) is inserted in a center cylinder (50) at the center of the rotor, the liquid sucked through the suction pipe (52) of the rotor (5) is vaporized, and a mixture of steam and liquid is jetted from the jet pipe (51) to rotate the rotor (5). A check valve (53) for jetting and a check valve (54) for suction are disposed at the ends of the jet pipe (51) and the suction pipe (52). The jetted steam is guided to a condenser (2) disposed on the sealed container (1), and is condensed and is refluxed into the sealed container (1). A vacuum pump (23) is connected to the condenser (2), and the pressure in the sealed container is held at the saturated steam pressure. Therefore, the steam generates to rotate the rotor (5) despite the liquid has a low temperature.
