Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a system may comprise an interface to obtain sensing data of an environment of the host vehicle. A processing device may be configured to determine a planned navigational action for the host vehicle; identify a target vehicle in the environment of the host vehicle; predict a following distance between the host vehicle and the target vehicle that would result if the planned navigational action was taken; determine a host vehicle braking distance based on a braking capability, acceleration capability, and speed of the host vehicle; determine a target vehicle braking distance, based on a speed and maximum braking capability of the target vehicle; and implement the planned navigational action when the predicted following distance is greater than a minimum safe longitudinal distance based on the determined host vehicle braking distance and the determined target vehicle braking distance.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for host vehicle navigation. Disclosed systems and methods may receive, from a camera, a plurality of images representative of an environment of the host vehicle; analyze the plurality of images to identify at least one pedestrian in the environment of the host vehicle; identify eyes of the at least one pedestrian represented in at least one of the plurality of images; and determine, based on analysis of the at least one of the plurality of images and based on the identification of the eyes of the at least one pedestrian in the at least one of the plurality of images, a looking direction of the at least one pedestrian.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for navigating based on behaviors of following vehicles. In one implementation, a navigation system for a host vehicle may include at least one processing device. The at least one processing device may be programmed to receive, from a camera, a plurality of images representative of an environment of the host vehicle; analyze the plurality of images to identify a first target vehicle and a second target vehicle in the environment of the host vehicle; analyze the plurality of images to determine a distance between the first target vehicle and the second target vehicle; and determine, from the plurality of images, a time to reach a boundary associated with one of the first target vehicle and the second target vehicle, wherein the determined time exceeds a first threshold and does not exceed a second threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for interacting with a plurality of autonomous vehicles. In one implementation, a system may include at least one processor. The at least one processor may be programmed to receive from each of the plurality of autonomous vehicles navigational situation information associated with an occurrence of an adjustment to a determined navigational maneuver, analyze the navigational situation information, determine, based on the analysis of the navigational situation information, whether the adjustment to the determined navigational maneuver was due to a transient condition, and update the predetermined model representative of the at least one road segment if the adjustment to the determined navigational maneuver was not due to a transient condition.

Abstract: A system is provided for determining a location of a landmark for use in navigation of an autonomous vehicle. The system includes a processor programmed to receive a measured position of the landmark. The processor is also programmed to determine a refined position of the landmark based on the measured position of the landmark and at least one previously acquired position for the landmark. The measured position and the previously acquired position are determined based on acquisition of an environmental image associated with the host vehicle, analysis of the environmental image to identify the landmark, reception of global positioning system (GPS) data representing a location of the host vehicle, analysis of the environmental image to determine a relative position of the identified landmark with respect to the host vehicle, and determination of a globally localized position of the landmark based on the GPS data and the relative position.

Abstract: A system for autonomously navigating a vehicle along a road segment is disclosed. The system may have at least one processor. The processor may be programmed to receive from an image capture device at least one image representative of an environment of the vehicle. The processor may also be programmed to analyze the at least one image to identify at least one recognized landmark. Further, the processor may be programmed to determine a current location of the vehicle relative to a predetermined road model trajectory associated with the road segment based, at least in part, on a predetermined location of the recognized landmark. In addition, the processor may be programmed to determine an autonomous steering action for the vehicle based on a direction of the predetermined road model trajectory at the determined current location of the vehicle relative to the predetermined road model trajectory.

Abstract: Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a traffic light detection system is provided for a vehicle. One or more processing devices associated with the system receive at least one image of an area forward of the vehicle via a data interface, with the area including at least one traffic lamp fixture having at least one traffic light. The processing device(s) determine, based on at least one indicator of vehicle position, whether the vehicle is in a turn lane. Also, the processing device(s) process the received image(s) to determine the status of the traffic light, including whether the traffic light includes an arrow. Further, the system may cause a system response based on the determination of the status of the traffic light, whether the traffic light includes an arrow, and whether the vehicle is in a turn lane.

Abstract: Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a driver-assist object detection system is provided for a vehicle. One or more processing devices associated with the system receive at least two images from a plurality of captured images via a data interface. The device(s) analyze the first image and at least a second image to determine a reference plane corresponding to the roadway the vehicle is traveling on. The processing device(s) locate a target object in the first two images, and determine a difference in a size of at least one dimension of the target object between the two images. The system may use the difference in size to determine a height of the object. Further, the system may cause a change in at least a directional course of the vehicle if the determined height exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A control system for a vehicle may include a forward-facing camera to capture a plurality of images of a road ahead of the vehicle and a processing device. The processing device may be configured to: provide feedback to a vehicle operator of the vehicle to change lanes to a new lane, in which the vehicle is not already traveling, based on the ending of a current lane, the ending of the current lane indicated by a first traffic cone identified in the plurality of images; and update a distance from the vehicle to a second traffic cone, based on a position of the vehicle, the second traffic cone used to constrain vehicle operation to the new lane.
