摘要: A task is to correctly classify an input image regardless of a fluctuation in illumination and a state of occlusion of the input image.Input image sub-region extraction means 2 extracts a sub-region of the input image. Inter-pattern distance calculation means 3 calculates an inter-pattern distance between this sub-region and a sub-region of a registration image pre-filed in dictionary filing means 5 for each sub-region. Region distance value integration means 10 integrates the inter-pattern distances obtained for each sub-region. This is conducted for the registration image of each category. Identification means 4 finds a minimum value out of its integrated inter-pattern distances, and in the event that its minimum value is smaller than a threshold, outputs a category having its minimum distance as a recognition result.

摘要: Provided are silica microparticles having a fine primary particle size suitable for an external toner additive, the microparticles including no bulky agglomerated particles responsible for a decrease in dispersibility into toner and fluidity of toner. The microparticles are capable of preventing detachment from toner, and are superior in effects of imparting uniform dispersibility and fluidity, thereby preventing a white point on printed images from occurring. The silica microparticles are characterized in that the silica microparticles are produced using hexamethyl disilazane or organo-polysiloxane by carrying out hydrophobization of hydrophilic silica microparticles having an average primary particle size of from 20 to 100 nm produced by a gas phase method, and that a ratio of agglomerated particles having a particle size of 1.5 μm or more is less than a predetermined value by determining using laser diffractometry by a volume-based particle size measurement of the particle.

摘要: The invention offers a technique that selectively differentiation-induces mesenchymal stem cells, which can differentiate to cells that constitute various tissues and organs, to osteoblasts. In addition, the invention offers a technique that differentiation-induces mesenchymal stem cells to osteoblasts with a simple operation that needs only short time and that is noninvasive. The inventors have found that the switch for the differentiation induction to osteoblasts is turned on by translocating biological clock-relevant factors existing in mesenchymal stem cells from the cells' cytoplasm to the cells' nucleus. The inventors have also found that the switch can be turned on by irradiating the cells for a short time with a lightwave having a specific wavelength that is noninvasive.

摘要: Provided is an aqueous binder for inorganic fibers, which is formaldehyde-free, has excellent strength, and is suitable for use under conditions of weakly acidic to weakly basic, and by which a cured product composed of the binder having excellent strength is obtained, and an thermal and/or acoustical insulation material made of inorganic fiber using the same. The thermal and/or acoustical insulation material is molded by using an aqueous hinder for inorganic fibers including: an acrylic resin with an acid value of 350 to 850 mgKOH/g; a crosslinking agent containing at least one dialkanolamine; and a curing accelerator, in which a molar ratio of the total number of the hydroxyl groups and imino groups in the crosslinking agent to the total number of carboxyl groups in the acrylic resin is 0.8:1 to 1.5:1, and in which pH of the hinder is adjusted to 6.0 to 8.0 with a volatile basic compound.

摘要: At least one of wiring areas divided by substrate dividing slits includes a region on which none of the strip conductors is located, the region having a U-shape as viewed in plan and enclosing one of the strip conductors on three sides. The length of the enclosed strip conductor is set such that, at a harmonic of a fundamental frequency, the strip line, including the enclosed strip conductor, exhibits very low impedance and acts as a short circuit. The length of the enclosed strip conductor may be set substantially equal to 1/(4n) times the wavelength corresponding to a fundamental frequency, to short circuit the nth harmonic, where n is an integer. Both ends of the U-shaped region are preferably disposed on the side of the surface of the matching circuit substrate closest to a transistor.

摘要: A scanning probe microscope has a probe needle and a control section that controls relative scanning movement between the probe needle and a surface of a sample in at least one direction parallel to the sample surface and controls relative movement between the probe needle and the sample surface in a direction perpendicular to the sample surface. A vibration source vibrates the probe needle at a vibrating frequency relative to the sample surface. An approach/separation drive section causes the probe needle to relatively approach to and separate from the sample surface at a predetermined distance while the probe needle is vibrated at the vibrating frequency relative to the sample surface by the vibration source. A detection section detects a rate of change in a vibration state of the probe needle in accordance with a distance between the probe needle and the sample surface. An observation section gathers observation data from the sample surface when the rate of change in the vibration state of the probe needle detected by the detection section has exceeded a preselected threshold value.
