Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to air filters expandable from a collapsed arrangement to an expanded, end-use arrangement and to methods of making, using, and installing such air filters. Some embodiments relate to an air filter having an expanded state and a collapsed state. The air filter includes a filter media assembly including (1) filter media including a plurality of pleats, (2) first and second opposing sides, and (3) first and second opposing ends. The air filter also includes a shape retention structure capable of being connected to at least a portion of the filter media assembly and capable of retention the filter media assembly in the expanded state. A spacing distance between adjacent pleats in the filter media is greater in the expanded state of the air filter than in the collapsed state of the air filter. In some embodiments, the air filter is an HVAC air filter.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a patient moving system. The patient moving system can include a support structure which further includes a first support member, a second support member and a third support member, the second support member is arranged parallel to the third support member. The system can also include a flexible member removably attached to the second support member and the third support member. The system can also include a tensioning device mechanically coupled to at least the flexible member and configured to provide tension to the flexible member.
Abstract:
Methods of delaying the onset of an infection or preventing an infection caused by a microbial organism in an internal cavity of a subject are provided. Methods of killing or inactivating microorganisms in at least a portion of the urethra of a subject are provided.
Abstract:
Dimensionally stable nonwoven fibrous webs include a multiplicity of continuous fibers formed from one or more thermoplastic polyesters and polypropylene in an amount greater than 0% and no more than 10% by weight of the web. The webs have at least one dimension which decreases by no greater than 10% in the plane of the web when heated to a temperature above a glass transition temperature of the fibers. When the thermoplastic polyester is selected to include aliphatic and aromatic polyesters, a spunbond process may be used to produce substantially continuous fibers that exhibit molecular orientation. When the thermoplastic polyester is selected from aliphatic polyesters, a meltblown process may be used to produce discontinuous fibers that do not exhibit molecular orientation. The webs may be used as articles for filtration, sound absorption, thermal insulation, surface cleaning, cellular growth support, drug delivery, personal hygiene, medical apparel, or wound dressing.

Abstract:
Multilayer articles having an absorbent nonwoven layer and a barrier layer are described, including those having a surfactant-treated, aliphatic polyester, nonwoven absorbent layer and a barrier layer. Multilayer articles including a tie layer used to enhance the bond between the hydrophilic absorbent layer and the barrier layer are also described. Methods of making and using such articles are also described.
Abstract:
Antimicrobial compositions, especially those useful when applied topically, particularly to mucosal tissues (i.e., mucous membranes), including a cationic antiseptic such as biguanides and bisbiguanides such as chlorhexidine and its various salts including but not limited to the digluconate, diacetate, dimethosulfate, and dilactate salts; polymeric quaternary ammonium compounds such as polyhexamethylenebiguanide; silver and various silver complexes; small molecule quaternary ammonium compounds such as benzalkoium chloride and alkyl substituted derivatives; di-long chain alkyl (C8-C18) quaternary ammonium compounds; cetylpyridinium halides and their derivatives; benzethonium chloride and its alkyl substituted derivatives; and octenidine. The compositions can also include an enhancer component, a surfactant, a hydrophobic component, and/or a hydrophilic component. Such compositions provide effective topical antimicrobial activity and are accordingly useful in the treatment and/or prevention of conditions that are caused, or aggravated by, microorganisms (including viruses).
Abstract:
An article, comprising: an enclosure comprising: a first film layer; a second film layer, wherein the first film layer and the second film layer are sealed together to form at least one interior region for enclosing a liquid; and an adhesive layer disposed on an exterior surface of the first film layer; wherein the at least one interior region is liquid-filled. A method, comprising: providing an enclosure comprising: a first film layer; a second film layer; at least one interior region; and a composite layer comprising the first film layer and an adhesive layer disposed on an exterior surface of the first film layer; wherein: the composite layer is liquid-impervious and flexible; the first film layer and the second film layer are sealed together to form the at least one interior region; the interior region has a sealed outer periphery; and the interior region is liquid-filled; positioning the article over an intended site of operation, with the adhesive layer facing towards the intended site of operation; penetrating each of the first film layer, the at least one interior region, and the composite layer with a surgical device; and penetrating the intended site of operation with the surgical device.
Abstract:
A composition is disclosed. The composition comprises at least one polymeric colorant having a polymer component with a colorant component covalently bound thereto, a medicament, and a liquid vehicle.
