摘要: A cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, device (100, 200, 400) for delivering intrathoracic pressure pulses to a subject (290), the device comprising an air pressure generator (110, 310, 410) for delivering air to the airways of the subject (290), wherein the air pressure generator (110, 310, 410) is configured to: operate a first mode, wherein in the first mode the air pressure generator (110, 310, 410) generates a first output (412, 770a, 770b) comprising a first plurality of positive pressure pulses (771) for temporally increasing the subject's intrathoracic pressure to induce compressions of the heart of the subject (290) by increasing the volume of the subject's lungs; operate a second mode, wherein in the second mode the air pressure generator (110, 310, 410) generates a second output (414, 880) comprising a second plurality of positive pressure pulses for providing an assured airflow to the lungs of the subject (290); and deliver a resulting output (425, 986, 1086) to the airways of the subject (290), the resulting output being the superposition of the first output (412, 770a, 770b) and of the second output (414, 880); wherein said first plurality of positive pressure pulses (771) have an amplitude greater than 30 mbar and a frequency in a range of 40-240 beats per minute; and wherein said second plurality of positive pressure pulses have an amplitude smaller than 30 mbar and a frequency in a range of 3 to 20 cycles per minute.

摘要: A humidification system comprises a first sensor and a second sensor. The first and second sensors are adapted to sense flow characteristics within the system. The first and second sensors are isolated from the flow by barriers formed by respective first and second sealing members. The sealing members extend through apertures formed in the system and have a portion that contacts the sensing elements of the respective first and second sensors. A cartridge can hold the sensors and provide repeatable penetration depths into a flow passage of the system. A medical tube has a composite structure made of two or more distinct components that are spirally wound to form an elongate tube. One component can be a spirally wound elongate hollow body; the other component can be an elongate structural component spirally wound between turns of the spirally wound hollow body.

摘要: Described herein is a head cooling system comprising: a source of compressed breathable gas; a vortex tube comprising an inlet, a hot gas outlet and a cold gas outlet, the inlet operably connected to the source of compressed breathable gas; and an interface for delivering cooled gas to a nasopharyngeal cavity in fluid communication with the cold gas outlet. The head cooling system may be used in a method to reduce neurodegeneration in a subject, for example neurodegeneration from ischemia, anoxia, cardiac arrest, trauma or neurodegenerative disease. The head cooling system may also be used in a method to prophylactically protect a subject at risk of neurodegeneration, for example neurodegeneration from ischemia, anoxia, cardiac arrest, trauma or neurodegenerative disease.

摘要: A device (12) that uses a temperature coefficient pre-calibrated for the device for measuring a flow within the device. The device includes a differential pressure sensor (80) configured to generate a differential pressure signal responsive to a differential pressure within a flow path (16) and a temperature sensor configured to sense a temperature near the differential pressure sensor. A differential amplifier amplifies differential pressure signals from the differential pressure sensor. A processor receives signals from the differential pressure sensor, amplified signals from the differential amplifier, and signals from the temperature sensor. The amplified signals are corrected based upon at least a predetermined temperature coefficient, and the processor calculates a flow rate based on the corrected representation of the differential pressure.

The valve controls gas flow by (i) providing both a high frequency signal and a low frequency signal through a coil positioned in a fixed magnetic field, (ii) determining a position of the coil by detecting the high frequency signal, and (iii) controlling a position of the coil by adjusting the low frequency signal.
