摘要: On both sides of a resin-made frame, a metallic edge frame member that surrounds a liquid crystal panel and a metallic backboard member equipped with a circuit board are disposed, and these are screw-fitted to the frame. Screw-fitting points are provided as four points in corner portions, and by screws of these respective screw-fitting points, earth circuits that make the edge frame member electrically conductive to the backboard member are formed.

摘要: An object is to provide an artificial vision system ensuring a wide field of view without damaging a retina. In the artificial vision system, a plurality of electrodes (23) are to be implanted so as to stick in an optic papilla of an eye of a patient. A signal for stimulation pulse is generated based on an image captured by an image pick up device (11) to be disposed outside a body of the patient. The electrical stimulation signals outputted from the electrodes (23) based on the signals for stimulation pulse stimulate an optic nerve of the eye, thereby enabling the patient to visually recognize the image from the image pickup device (11).

摘要: The present invention provides a nonaqueous electrolyte battery 10 comprising a nonaqueous electrolytic solution 20 which is a nonaqueous electrolytic medium; positive and negative plates 30 and 32 in contact with the nonaqueous electrolytic medium; a first lead 18a having one end connected to the positive plate 30 and the other end extending to the outside; a second lead 18b having one end connected to the negative plate and the other end extending to the outside; and a sealing bag 14 for sealing the positive and negative plates 30 and 32, the nonaqueous electrolytic medium 20, and parts of the first and second leads 18a and 18b therein, the bag 14 being heat-sealed; wherein at least a heat-sealing portion 12 of the sealing bag 14 has a layer comprising a maleic acid modified polyolefin. The maleic acid modified polyolefin has a low hygroscopicity and a low compatibility with the nonaqueous electrolytic solution. Accordingly, high blocking properties against the nonaqueous electrolytic solution and steam are obtained, whereby the sealing bag 14 attains a high hermetic property.

摘要: Detection of angles associated with wheel alignment of a vehicle can be carried out properly at all times according to the present wheel alignment examining apparatus irrespective of the size of a wheel to be examined. The present apparatus includes a sensor member (105, 106) pressed against a side surface of a wheel (11) to be examined and thus the sensor member rotates together with the wheel to be examined. Various inclination angles, such as toe, camber, caster and king pin angles, are detected from a displacement of the sensor member during its rotation. Use may be made of either a Cardan suspension mechanism or link mechanism for supporting the sensor member. When use is made of a link mechanism, toe and camber angles can be detected by the same encoder.

摘要: A polycarbonate is produced by transesterification from a dihydroxy compound such as 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane and a diester of carbonic acid such as bisphenyl carbonate in the presence of a substance which contains iron in an amount of 50% by weight or less and contacts the reactants. Alternatively, a polycarbonate is produced by transesterification from a dihydroxy compound and a diester of carbonic acid in a reactor made of stainless steel and treated by electropolishing or acid pickling or buffed on a surface part thereof which contacts the reactants. As the transesterification catalyst, (a) a nitrogen-containing, electron-donating compound and (b) a nitrogen-containing, electron-donating compound and an alkali metal compound or an alkaline earth metal compound are preferably used.

摘要: A (co)polycarbonate composition mainly comprising a (co)polycarbonate having a limiting viscosity number [.eta.] of 0.2 to 1.0 dl/g and terminal hydroxyl groups in an amount of 20 mole % or below, based on all the terminal groups of the (co)polycarbonate, and is substantially free from any branched structure which might otherwise be formed by a side reaction. The (co)polycarbonate contains chlorine (causasive of discoloration) in an amount of 10 ppm or below and an alkali metal ion and/or an alkaline earth metal ion in an amount of 1 ppm or below. A process for preparing the above (co)polycarbonate composition by the melt transesterification process involves the reaction of a dihydroxy compound such as bisphenol A and a carbonic diester such as diphenyl carbonate with a nitrogen-containing basic compound (a), and/or, a compound (b) containing an element selected from the group consisting of elements belonging to Groups I, II, IV and V of the periodic table as a catalyst.

摘要: In a process for producing a polycarbonate by subjecting a dihydroxy compound and a diester of carbonic acid to melt polycondensation through transesterification, after a polycarbonate prepolymer is prepared in the first-stage reaction, polycondensation is conducted as the second-stage reaction at a residence time in the range of from 15 to less than 60 min or through the use of at least one paddle-type self-cleaning twin-screw extruder. This process enables a colorless, transparent polycarbonate having a high molecular weight to be produced at a high efficiency on an industrial scale.
