Abstract:
A method is provided for fabricating a construction (10) having a functional side (12). The method includes the steps of: supplying a flexible substrate (20); attaching one or more structures (30) to the substrate (20) on a surface or side thereof facing the functional side (12) of the construction (10); and forming one or more features, for example, such as fibrils (39), on at least one of the structures (30), wherein the features have at least one dimension which is at least one of micro-sized or nano-sized.
Abstract:
A method of imparting enduring beneficial features to a hard flocked surface of an article is provided. The method includes encapsulating a desired beneficial agent as a core material in a polymeric microcapsule, and transferring polymeric microcapsule to the surface by a dipping, spraying, or padding application. The beneficial agent, after getting transferred to the surface of a hard flocked article, imparts long lasting performance, provides fragrance and may protect an article from odor, insect, pest, fungi, bacteria, viruses, and the like. The polymeric microcapsules deliver long lasting benefits to surfaces with flocking, such as clothes hangers. Also described is a process for manufacture of flocked items with benefit delivering polymer microcapsules, without the need for binders or adhesives. Benefit agents are released with shear force on the flocked surface, so they are released when used and provide long-lasting performance.
Abstract:
Application of a resin to a pool surface to provide a colored finish that is ultraviolet resistant. The resin may be a powder that can be melted at a fairly low temperature and applied to the pool surface. A first later of resin may be applied to an epoxy layer that is applied to the pool surface to provide better adhesion while the epoxy is still tacky (hot-flocking). The hot-flocking causes the resin and the epoxy to blend into a single layer. An additional layer of resin may be applied after the epoxy and the first layer of resin fully cured. After the second layer of resin has cured an additional layer may be applied to provide designs and/or markings. The designs/markings may be produced with tape and/or stencils and the next layer may be applied to the non-covered areas to provide the desired look.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a method for coating a target. The method includes providing a target and an electrospinning apparatus. The target comprises a first surface and an opposing second surface. The electrospinning apparatus comprises a mandrel, a mask including an aperture, a reservoir loaded with a solution, and an orifice fluidly coupled to the reservoir. The mandrel is located adjacent the target second surface. The orifice is located at a distance from the target first surface. The mask is located intermediate the orifice and the target first surface. The solution is electrospun through the mask aperture onto the target first surface. In one example the target is an endoluminal prosthesis.
Abstract:
A transparent electrode and method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The major integrants of the transparent electrode comprise a graphene and a nanofiber. The nanofiber exhibits a light-permeable network structure to increase the light transmittance of the transparent electrode. The graphene is absorbed on the surface of the nanofiber to form a conductive light-permeable network structure. And the unique properties of the graphene lead an improvement of the mechanical strength property of the transparent electrode.
Abstract:
A design and process are provided in which a fully activated thermosetting adhesive layer and multi-layered thermoplastic adhesive are positioned between a flock layer and a substrate.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an article having at least one surface coated with electrostatically flocked material. The flock material used is one or more fibers, preferably synthetic fibers. When electrostatically flocked onto the article surface, the flock material is oriented, thus providing a silky smooth feel to the surface. The articles may include, for example, elastic articles such as rubber gloves, elastic medical drapes or wraps, elastic orthopedic supports/braces and clothing. The present invention also provides a process and apparatus for electrostatically flocking material onto an article.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a flocked planar product having a net or grid structure. In said method, a net-type or grid-type, planar starting substrate is provided with an adhesive coating into which flock fibers are introduced in an electrostatic fashion. In order to apply the adhesive coating, the starting substrate is moved through a passageway for applying adhesive between a pressing member and a transfer member that stores adhesive, and the transfer member is moved by means of the pressing member in such a way that an adhesive deposit builds up or accumulates at the inlet of the application passageway, the planar starting substrate being immersed and/or guided through said adhesive deposit.
