The honeycomb unit includes inorganic particles, an inorganic binder, and cell walls extending along a longitudinal direction of the at least one honeycomb unit to define cells. The at least one honeycomb unit has a b-axis compression strength of about 1.0 MPa or less. A thickness T of the peripheral wall of the honeycomb structure is larger than 0.42V-0.25 (mm), where V is a volume of the honeycomb structure and in a range from about 1.0 liters to about 10 liters.

A ratio of a coefficient of thermal expansion of the adhesive layer to a coefficient of thermal expansion of each of the plurality of honeycomb units is in a range from approximately 0.8 to approximately 1.2.

摘要： A method for manufacturing a honeycomb structure includes a molding step of manufacturing a pillar-shaped honeycomb molded body by using a raw material composition, and a firing step of carrying out a firing treatment on the honeycomb molded body to manufacture a honeycomb fired body. The pillar-shaped honeycomb molded body has a large number of cells disposed in substantially parallel with one another in a longitudinal direction with a cell wall therebetween. The raw material composition includes inorganic particles, at least one of inorganic fibers and inorganic whiskers, and an inorganic binder. The inorganic particles include secondary particles formed by an agglomeration of primary particles. An average particle diameter of the inorganic binder in the raw material composition is about 1/200 to about 1/40 of an average particle diameter of the inorganic particles.

A ratio of the first zeolite by weight to a total weight of the first and second zeolites at a center of the thickness of each wall is larger than the ratio of the first zeolite at the first or second surface. A ratio of the second zeolite by weight to the total weight at the first or second surface is larger than the ratio of the second zeolite at the center of the thickness of each wall.
