    摘要: An engine start control apparatus includes a motor/generator and a controller for controlling the motor/generator. The controller starts an engine cranking operation to start the engine by operating the motor/generator in a cranking mode for driving an engine in response to an engine start command signal, monitors an operating condition of the engine cranking operation to produce a mode change signal before an engine speed exceeds a target speed, and switches the motor/generator from the cranking mode to an overshoot control mode to control the power generation of the motor/generator in accordance with a predetermined target parameter such as a target power generation torque and a desired engine speed.

    摘要: A method of energizing a combined starter/alternator to start an engine in a vehicle including a primary energy storage device and a secondary energy storage device. The method includes the steps of monitoring a charge value on the secondary energy storage device, and activating a converter switching circuit to charge the secondary energy storage device with the primary energy storage device until the charge value is greater than a maximum charge value. Thereafter, an inverter switching circuit is activated to energize the starter/alternator with the power available in the primary and secondary energy storage devices. The starter/alternator is activated as a starter motor until the engine starts or the charge on the secondary energy storage device falls below a mininum charge value.

    摘要: A remote starting system shutoff system and method for a vehicle includes a vehicle power plant and a remote starting system that is connected to the vehicle power plant. A transmitter actuates the remote starting system to start the vehicle power plant. A vehicle hazard switch in the passenger compartment of the vehicle has first and second positions. When the hazard switch is in the first position, the vehicle power plant can be started using the transmitter. After the vehicle power plant is started, the remote starting system turns the vehicle power plant off if the hazard switch transitions from the first position to the second position. Remote starting is disabled anytime that the switch is in the second position. The transmitter is preferably a radio frequency transmitter. The vehicle power plant is selected from the group of internal combustion engines, diesel engines, hybrids and fuel cells.

    摘要: A generator/starter system for starting an engine and for tapping power from the engine in order to generate electricity includes a squirrel cage rotor, a main stator winding, an auxiliary stator winding, and an excitation source. The main stator winding is magnetically coupled to the squirrel cage rotor so as to provide an AC output in response to rotation of the squirrel cage rotor and so as to rotate the squirrel cage rotor in response to an AC input. The auxiliary stator winding is magnetically coupled to the squirrel cage rotor so as to provide excitation current when the main stator winding is providing the AC output. The source of excitation current is coupled to the auxiliary stator winding.

    摘要: The invention relates to a starting/driving unit for an internal combustion engine (VM) of a motor vehicle with at least two starting methods, which has a clutch (K) between the crankshaft (KW), the engine (VM), and the vehicle transmission (FG) as well as an electric machine which is connected to the engine (VM) by way of the clutch (K). With the electric machine, the two starting methods can be executed in an optimal fashion solely by virtue of the fact that through rotation of the crankshaft by means of the electric machine, each starting method is preceded by a start clearing phase in which the starting conditions are detected when the clutch is engaged, a decision is made as to the subsequent operating phases (direct start phase, positioning phase, preinjection phase, impulse start phase) and their starting parameters are determined.
