摘要: A coating composition includes a first polymer and a second polymer that are incompatible and non-reactive with one another. The absolute value of the difference between the refractive index of the first polymer and the refractive index of the second polymer is about 0 to about 0.01. The first polymer and the second polymer are soluble in a carrier liquid that is a good solvent for the first polymer and a poor solvent for the second polymer. The carrier liquid is removed from the coating layer to spinodally decompose the mixture of the first polymer and the second polymer in an amount sufficient to form a substantially continuous first phase with a predominant amount of the first polymer and a substantially discontinuous second phase with a predominant amount the second polymer. At least 70% of the second phase includes droplets with an aspect ratio, when viewed in the plane of the surface of the substrate, of less than about 3.

摘要: A method for forming an antislip material. A flexible thermoplastic carrier is provided. A hot release surface is provided. Provided is a first layer of discrete thermoplastic particles, sifting on the hot release surface. The discrete particles are above their softening temperatures, providing in the first layer a tackiness. The method includes contacting the carrier with the tacky first layer for sticking the first layer to the carrier, and thereafter removing the carrier, and therewith the tacky first layer stuck to the carrier, from the release surface. Thereby the carrier is provided with a hot, preferably discontinuous and/or elastomeric antislip coating. With a heat energy of the hot coating a bond is formed between the carrier and the coating. The removing of the carrier includes pulling the carrier out of the contact with a pulling-out force. The temperature of the hot release surface is above the melting temperature of the carrier. The carrier would be spoiled, if heated completely to the temperature of the release surface and simultaneously pulled with the pulling-out force. Therefore the contacting time is kept shorter than a minimum time required by a heat of the hot release surface for spoiling the carrier. Flat-topped roughening projections can be included in the antislip coating.

Prepare a first precursor dispersion comprising a first active organic precursor, and the first active organic precursor is a fluorine-free monomer. Prepare a second precursor dispersion comprising a second active organic precursor, and the second active organic precursor is a fluorine-containing monomer. Apply the first precursor dispersion to a product body, and dry the applied first precursor dispersion to form a first dried layer. Apply the second precursor dispersion to the first dried layer to cover the first dried layer, and dry the applied second precursor dispersion to form a second dried layer, so that the first active organic precursor and the second active organic precursor are polymerized to obtain a product with a protective coating.

The liquid applicators include a frame and an applicator head operably coupled to the frame and configured to support a section of an applicator fabric for operable application of a liquid to a substrate. The liquid applicators further include a fabric conveyance system that is operably coupled to the frame and includes a fabric pay-out assembly configured to supply the applicator fabric to the applicator head and a fabric take-up assembly configured to receive the applicator fabric from the applicator head. The liquid applicators further include a liquid delivery system configured to deliver the liquid to the section of the applicator fabric. The methods include delivering the liquid to the section of applicator fabric, engaging the section of applicator fabric with the substrate, and moving the section of the applicator fabric across the substrate to apply the liquid thereto.

摘要: Improved aluminum can end stock (CES) is disclosed. The CES includes an adhered polymer coating exhibiting low feathering and high performance in various acid tests. The low feathering and resistance to acid tests is accomplished by incorporating a copolymer adhesion promoter film to an aluminum alloy before lamination. In some cases, the metal strip is pretreated with a conversion layer, which can include compounds of trivalent chromium (Cr(III)) and phosphates or titanium and zirconium.
