Abstract:
The present invention relates to a water-based beverage containing soluble fibres. The water composition is substantially demineralized and has a neutral or acidic pH. The soluble fibres contained in the present water composition are selected from a group comprising oligosaccharides with a chain length of from about 2 to 20 units and digestion-resistant malto-oligosaccharides with a Molecular Weight of about 2000. The present water composition may be store without adverse effect such as hydrolysis of oligosaccharides nor precipitation of the soluble fibres contained in it.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for the treatment and/or prevention of overweight in a monogastric mammal. More particularly, the invention is concerned with such a method comprising administering to the mammal a liquid edible composition with a pH of more than 5, a viscosity below 50 mPas at a shear rate of 100s and 20°C, and a viscosity of at least 125% of the aforementioned viscosity at a pH 3 and a temperature of 37°C; and with a caloric density between 0 and 500 kcal per liter, the composition comprising: a. between 0.01 and 5 wt.% of one or more polysaccharides selected from the group consisting of pectin and alginate; and b. between 0.01 and 3 wt.% calcium.

Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to a method of blunting the postprandial glycemic response in a human by feeding an induced viscosity fiber system together with lightly hydrolyzed starch. The invention also relates to an induced viscosity fiber system and the liquid products that incorporate the induced viscosity fiber system. Further, the invention relates to a method of incorporating soluble fiber into a liquid product without the typical negative organoleptic or physical stability issues. The invention also relates to a method of inducing the feeling of fullness and satiety by feeding the induced viscosity fiber system.

Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to a method of blunting the postprandial glycemic response to a meal by feeding a dual induced viscosity fiber system. The first component of the induced viscosity fiber system is soluble fiber. The second component of the induced viscosity fiber system is water-insoluble, acid-soluble multivalent cations. The third component of the induced viscosity fiber system in lightly hydrolyzed starch. The fiber system will typically be incorporated into a meal replacement nutritional. The present invention also refers to a method of delivering soluble fiber to diabetics and to persons needing to lose weight. Additionally, the invention refers to a method of promoting the feeling of fullness and satiety by feeding a nutritional product containing the induced viscosity fiber system.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition and a method of administering a composition suitable for human consumption. In one embodiment, the composition includes a dietary acceptable amount of a first fiber comprising inulin and a dietary acceptable amount of a first fiber comprising inulin and a dietary acceptable amount of a second fiber. The composition is in beverage form having a viscosity on the order of 1.4 cp or less. A serving of the beverage may comprise a portion, including the entire portion of a daily predetermined amount of soluble fiber.
