Disclosed herein are anisotropic conductive particles having superior electrical reliability which are useful as materials for electrical connection structures. Further disclosed is a method for preparing conductive particles comprising polymer resin base particles and a conductive complex metal plating layer formed on the surface of the base particles wherein the conductive complex metal plating layer has a substantially continuous density gradient and consists of nickel (Ni) and gold (Au).

A connection terminal portion of a substrate and a terminal portion of an external circuit substrate or a terminal portion of a part are electrically connected together using an anisotropic electrically conducting film. A structure in which a first substrate (100) having a connection terminal portion (31) and a second substrate (200) having a connection terminal portion (13) or a connection terminal portion of a part are connected together with an anisotropic electrically conducting adhesive (22) containing electrically conducting particles (21), wherein the thickness of the electrically conducting film (14) provided for the connection terminal of the first substrate (100), the second substrate (200) or the part is smaller than the diameter of the electrically conducting particles (21). The invention is further concerned with a method of accomplishing the electrical connection.
Abstract:
A light source and method for making the same are disclosed. The light source includes a plurality of surface mount LEDs that are bonded to a mounting substrate by a layer of asymmetric conductor. Each LED has surface mount contacts on a first surface thereof and emits light from a second surface thereof that is opposite the first surface. The mounting substrate includes a top surface having a plurality of connection traces. Each connection trace includes an n-trace positioned to underlie a corresponding one of the n-contacts and a p-trace positioned to underlie a corresponding one of the p-contacts, the p-trace having an area greater than the p- contact. The layer of asymmetric conductor is sandwiched between the surface mount contacts and the connection traces, and can optionally extend into the spaces between the LEDs to provide a scattering medium for redirecting light leaving the sides of the LEDs.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich u. a. auf ein Verfahren zum Herstellen einer Anordnung, bei dem (a) auf einem ersten Träger (10) ein erstes elektrisches Bauelement (60) angeordnet wird, (b) auf einem zweiten Träger (200) ein zweites elektrisches Bauelement (260) angeordnet wird und (c) die beiden Träger miteinander verbunden werden, wobei die Reihenfolge der Schritte (a) bis (c) beliebig ist. Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass die zwei Träger mit einem elektrisch leitfähige Partikel (300) enthaltenden Klebstoff (310) unter Bildung einer anisotrop leitfähigen Klebeschicht (320) miteinander verklebt werden, wobei mit der Klebeschicht eine elektrische Verbindung zwischen mindestens einer elektrischen Kontaktfläche (80) auf dem ersten Träger und mindestens einer elektrischen Kontaktfläche (240) auf dem zweiten Träger hergestellt wird.

More precisely, the invention provides a polymer particle having optimum impact strength and improved elastic recovery rate by forming the brush having softness on the surface of the monodisperse polymer particle by the anion dispersion polymerization using a conjugated diene monomer.

Disclosed herein are anisotropic conductive particles contained in anisotropic conductive adhesive films which are used in the mounting field of circuit boards. The conductive particles have a uniform shape, a narrow particle diameter distribution, and appropriate compressive de-formability and recoverability from deformation. In addition, the conductive particles exhibit enhanced conducting properties without being ruptured when interposed and compressed between connection substrates, thereby achieving a sufficient contact area between the particles and the connection substrates. Further disclosed are polymer-based particles used in the conductive particles.

The invention provides a composition (3) comprising: (i) a ferrofluid comprising a colloidal suspension (4) of ferromagnetic particles in a non-magnetic carrier liquid, and (ii) a plurality of electrically-conductive particles (5) having substantially uniform sizes and shapes, dispersed in the ferrofluid. Various types of substantially non-magnetic electrically-conductive particles (5) are described. Application of a substantially uniform magnetic field by magnet means (8) to the composition (3) causes the electrically-conductive particles (5) to form a regular pattern (9). The composition is used for providing anisotropic conductive pathways (9a, 9b) between two sets of conductors (2a, 2b; 7a, 7b) in the electronics industry. The composition may be a curable adhesive composition which bonds the conductors. Alternatively or in addition the electrically-conductive particles may have a latent adhesive property e.g. the particles may be solder particles. The ferrofluid may be a colloidal suspension of ferromagnetic particles in a liquid monomer.

A method of forming an anisotropic electrical connection between conductive elements (22, 24) having an oxide layer (28) is disclosed. The method comprises the use of an adhesive (30) including carbon fibres (32) and metallic particles (34). On the application of pressure, the carbon fibres (32) penetrate the oxide layer (28), whilst the metallic particles (34) deform such that a good electrical connection is made between overlying elements (22, 24).
