Abstract: The tray for the storage of sample slides includes a plate with a plurality of cells. The plate has at least a bottom and two opposing side walls, having an entrance opening and being at least partly closed by a transverse wall. Each cell includes at least two protrusions protruding respectively at each of the side walls and forming adjacent sliding elements to guide the edges of a slide upon introduction into a cell. The bottom of each cell is inclined at an angle α relative to the plane of the tray, while the length of each slide is less than the length of the slide that is intended to be stored in a cell. The invention also relates to a cabinet for storing such a tray and a device for identifying the slides stored in such a tray.

The compartment further including a condensed water remover configured to remove condensed water from the second portion thereby facilitating transportation of condensed water from the first portion to the second portion via the porous material.

Abstract: Processing containers include a first member having a substantially rigid body with a plurality of regions defining spaced apart workstations and a flexible barrier member sealably attached to the first member to define a closed chamber over the plurality of workstations. The flexible barrier is substantially impermeable and includes or is a manipulation tool that is sealably attached to the barrier. The manipulation tool has a first internal interface that resides in the closed chamber under the flexible barrier and a second external interface that resides outside the closed chamber. The processing containers are particularly suitable for automated processing of nucleic acids and other samples. The manipulation tool can cooperate with or include a pipette head. When the barrier is sealed, the barrier separates the contents of the container from a robotic arm or other manipulation device.

In certain implementations, the lab system may be contained within a shipping container configured to be modular or otherwise cooperate with each other or another system. The units may be configured to be readily transportable and configured to be set up in various locations. Additionally, a unit may be configured to utilize robotic systems to enable the unit to receive and analyze specimens without the need for support personnel to be present. The unit may be configured to be managed remotely and request local assistance as needed. The system may be configured to obviate the need for highly-trained personnel, expensive equipment, costly maintenance and instruments running near capacity to offset cost, thereby making the most advanced analytical methodologies available to small, non-research communities.
