摘要: Highly active catalysts, suitable for use in hydrogenation and other reactions, are prepared from an alloy of one or more of the Group VIII transition metals with yttrium or a rare earth metal. The alloy is ground to the desired particle size and is thereafter reacted with a gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen to form an intimate physical admixture of the Group VIII metal or its corresponding carbide with the oxide of yttrium or the rare earth metal.

摘要: Hydrocarbons are converted by contacting them at hydrocarbon conversion conditions with an acidic multimetallic catalytic composite comprising a combination of catalytically effective amounts of a platinum group component, a lanthanide series component, a cobalt component, and a halogen component with a porous carrier material. The platinum group component, lanthanide series component, cobalt component, and halogen component are present in the multimetallic catalyst in amounts respectively, calculated on an elemental basis, corresponding to about 0.01 to about 2 wt. % platinum group metal, about 0.01 to about 5 wt. % lanthanide series component, about 0.05 to about 5 wt. % cobalt, and about 0.1 to about 3.5 wt. % halogen. Moreover, these metallic components are uniformly dispersed throughout the porous carrier material in carefully controlled oxidation states such that substantially all of the platinum group metal is present therein in the elemental metallic state, substantially all of the catalytically available cobalt component is present in the elemental metallic state or in a state which is reducible to the elemental metallic state under hydrocarbon conversion conditions, or in a mixture of these states, while substantially all of the lanthanide series component is present therein in an oxidation state above that of the elemental metal. A specific example of the type of hydrocarbon conversion process disclosed is a process for the catalytic reforming of a low-octane gasoline fraction wherein the gasoline fraction and a hydrogen stream are contacted with the acidic multimetallic catalyst disclosed herein at reforming conditions.

摘要: An improved method of preparing amines by reaction of alcohols with ammonia or primary or secondary amines at elevated temperature and superatmospheric pressure in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst containing cobalt, nickel and copper, the improvement comprising using a catalyst which contains (calculated on the metal content of the catalyst) from 70 to 95% by weight of a mixture of cobalt and nickel and from 5 to 30% by weight of copper, the ratio by weight of cobalt to nickel being from 4:1 to 1:4. The amines prepared in this way are suitable for the production of emulsifying agents, plant protection agents and vulcanization accelerators.

摘要: A process for the preparation of an ammonia synthesis catalyst, in which an iron oxide, together with traces of aluminum, calcium, potassium, magnesium and silicon oxides, is fused in the presence of a small quantity of graphite and reduced and the reduced catalyst is thereafter treated with an aqueous solution of a water soluble cerium salt.The use of the so prepared catalyst in the synthesis of ammonia makes it possible to operate at significantly reduced temperatures and/or pressure, and thereby obtain very considerable capital and operational savings.

摘要: The invention is the extrusion of sulfur from thiodinitriles to obtain the corresponding dinitrile by heating the thiodinitrile at a temperature of 200* to 700*C. For example, sulfur is extruded from thiodipropionitrile to obtain adiponitrile. This extrusion reaction can be either a strictly thermal reaction employing no other reactant or a reaction conducted in the presence of other gases, liquids or solids.
