Abstract: Disclosed is a transport packaging unit for packaging articles to be transported, in particular hazardous materials. The transport packaging unit comprises the following: a pallet with a base plate, wherein the articles to be transported are receivable on the base plate; a transport box which is open toward the base plate, wherein the transport box rests on the base plate and together with the base plate forms an interior of the transport packaging unit which receives the articles to be transported, wherein the transport box is fixed on the base plate by means of at least one fastening element, preferably by means of at least one packing strip.

Abstract: A device and method for handling racks of disposable pipette tips in a laboratory automation system are presented. The device comprises a guide rail for guiding racks from a loading region (I) to a supply region (II). The loading region (I) is accessible by a user or a loading device for loading a rack on the guide rail. A plurality of disposable pipette tips stored in a supplying rack located in the supply region (II) is accessible by a delivering device for delivering at least one selected one of the plurality of disposable pipette tips to a pipetting system. The device comprises at least one moveable element, which is controllably moveable by a driving device for selectively enabling or disabling a removal of the supplying rack from the supply region (II). A laboratory automation system comprising such a device and/or for carrying out the method are also presented.

Abstract: A process for safeguarding a product during transportation comprises forming a package by surrounding a product with packaging material and accommodating the package in an external packaging that comprises a carrier element and a bag element. The carrier element includes an upper side including a border and a lower side opposite the upper side, wherein the lower side comprises a base. Further, the bag element comprises a base and a bag opening with a border opposite the base of the bag element. The package is accommodated in the external packaging by loading the package onto the carrier element such that the package is carried by the carrier element and loading the carrier element via the bag opening into the bag element such that the bag element surrounds the carrier element and the bag element extends on the upper side of the carrier element beyond the border of the carrier element.

Abstract: A method and test element for electrochemically detecting at least one analyte in a sample are provided, wherein the method comprises: a) providing at least one test element comprising at least one first electrode contacting a test chemistry and at least one second electrode, wherein a surface of the second electrode consists of silver metal; b) contacting both the first and second electrodes with the sample comprising chloride ions; c) applying a first voltage between the first electrode as a cathode and the second electrode as an anode with a voltage sufficient for forming a layer of silver chloride at the surface of the second electrode; d) applying a second voltage between the first electrode as the anode and the second electrode as the cathode; and e) determining an electrical signal between the first and the second electrodes, whereby the analyte in the sample comprising the chloride ions is detected.

Abstract: A laboratory sample distribution system is presented. The laboratory sample distribution system comprises a plurality of container carriers. The container carriers each comprise at least one magnetically active device such as, for example, at least one permanent magnet, and carry a sample container containing a sample. Abstract: A method of dispensing a particle mixture and a reagent fluid cartridge are presented. The cartridge comprises a first reservoir partially filled with reagent fluid, a second reservoir partially filled with particles, a pumping chamber, a first pumping chamber conduit connecting the first reservoir and the pumping chamber, a second pumping chamber conduit connecting the second reservoir and the pumping chamber, an outlet for dispensing reagent fluid and particles from the cartridge, an outlet conduit connecting the outlet to the pumping chamber, and a valve sealing the outlet conduit. The method comprises closing the valve, applying a force to the plunger to transport a first defined volume of reagent fluid and second defined volume of particles into the pumping chamber to form a mixture of reagent fluid and particles, opening the valve, and forcing the mixture from the pumping chamber using the plunger to dispense the mixture from the outlet.

Abstract: An automatic analyzer cartridge, spinnable around a rotational axis, has aliquoting and metering chambers, a connecting duct there between, and a vent connected to the metering chamber and nearer to the rotational axis than the metering chamber. The metering chamber has side walls that taper away from a central region. Capillary action next to the side walls is greater than in the central region. A circular arc about the rotational axis passes through a duct entrance in the aliquoting chamber and a duct exit in the metering chamber. The cartridge has a downstream fluidic element which is part of a fluidic structure for processing a biological sample into the processed biological sample. A valve connects the metering chamber to the fluidic element, which is fluidically connected to the fluidic structure. The fluidic structure receives the biological sample and has a measurement structure for enabling measurement of the processed biological sample.
