摘要: A device, system, and method are provided for thermally treating a fluid processing device. According to various embodiments, a system is provided that can include a thermal device and a fluid processing device holder. The thermal device can include a first block having a thermal conductivity greater than 0.5 Watt per centimeter Kelvin (W/cm·K), a second block having a thermal conductivity greater than 0.5 W/cm·K, and a heat-pump device disposed between the first block and the second block. The heat-pump device can transfer thermal energy from at least one of the first block and the second block to the other of the first block and the second block. The fluid processing device holder can hold a fluid processing device in a heat-transfer position with respect to the first block and the second block. The fluid processing device can be a microfluidic device.

摘要: Generally, the present invention provides a device and method for accurately locating a multi-well plate at a plate-support location, e.g., a work surface, of an automated laboratory machine, such that one or more acting members of the machine, such as an array of pipette tips, optical sensors, or the like, can accurately address and operate on the individual wells. Interior and/or exterior surface regions of one or more wells of a multi-well plate are used as the primary plate features engaged by locating structure of the machine. In one particular embodiment one or more upwardly tapered projections extend from a plate-support surface of a plate-handling machine for mating engagement with the exterior surface regions of one or more wells. In another embodiment, the exterior surface regions along one or more well bottoms are engagingly received within bores, or other receiving structure, formed on the place-support surface of a machine. In a further embodiment, one or more downwardly extending projections depend from an acting-member support, along with the acting members of a machine. Introduction of the projections into some of the wells of a multi-well plate serves to align the acting members with the plate's other wells.

摘要: A method for representing scalar data dependencies for an optimizing compiler wherein a global scalar data dependence graph is created to represent all of the scalar objects in an entire program. The scalar data dependencies are represented as three chains: a use-definition chain (ud); a definition-use chain (du) or a definition-definition chain (dd), and is created for the entire program and is maintained during the entire compilation or assembly of the program. The method for determining scalar data dependences for the entire program starts by analyzing the scalar data dependences within each basic block, in a single pass, processes all definitions and uses of all non-array data objects in the basic block, including simple variables and complex data objects such as records, unions, pointers and procedure calls in the presence of aliasing. From these objects, information is collected, such as whether the data objects are upwardly or downwardly exposed, pointers, pointer aliases, aggregate objects, array objects, uses, definitions; whether they are calls, indirect uses, or indirect definitions.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for triggering an information dependent mass spectrometry scan in real time. A mass spectrometry scan of a separating sample mixture is performed by a mass spectrometer at each time interval of a time period. The mass spectrometer receives the separating sample mixture from a separation device. It is determined at a certain time interval that a received mass spectrometry scan at the time interval and one or more preceding received mass spectrometry scans include two or more time-varying ion signals that represent two or more fragment ion transitions of a known compound. If a characteristic of the two or more time-varying ion signals meets a selection criterion, the mass spectrometer is instructed to perform a dependent mass spectrometry scan of the separating sample mixture for a precursor ion of the known compound at the time interval.

摘要: A device is provided that can include at least one gas trap that can be arranged in fluid communication with a sample-containment feature formed in or on the device. The gas trap can be arranged to trap gas or air displaced from the sample-containment feature as the sample-containment feature is loaded with a liquid. The trapped gas in the gas trap can assist in breaking-up and expelling the liquid from the sample-containment feature during a subsequent liquid transfer operation, for example, to an adjacent sample-containment feature. Systems for processing such a device and methods using such a device are also provided.
