    摘要: A parallel fluid processing system including multiple fluid process regions containing solid material in fluid communication with a common first fluid source may be used to conduct analyses and/or synthesis in parallel. A parallel fluid processing data correction method includes supplying and processing a calibrant in each fluid process region, measuring a first physical parameter and deriving at least one correction factor based on the parameter, supplying and processing at least one second fluid in each fluid process region, and then applying the correction factor to yield corrected process data. Retention time correction, peak area correction, and other useful data corrections may be performed. Parallel fluid processing may be performed with microfluidic devices and systems. A system for correcting retention times in parallel liquid chromatography is further provided.

    摘要: Formulations consisting of phospholipid small unilamellar particles encapsulating polyene antifungal antibiotics and methods for using such compositions to treat systemic fungal infections are described. In a preferred embodiment, the particles are in the form of vesicles which comprise a polyene antifungal antibiotic, preferably amphotericin B and/or nystatin, egg phosphatidylcholine and cholesterol, preferably in the molar ratio of about 0.2 (AMB):2(PL):1(CHOL). These vesicles may also have an amine modified surface. The vesicles are suspended in a low isonic strength saccharide/tris solution at a pH of from about 6.0 to about 8.0 and may be administered to deliver the antifungal antibiotic to treat systemic fungal infections.

    摘要: The synchronous sampling scanning force microscope includes a reflective cantilever arm having a free end which is oscillated at a frequency different from the resonance frequency of the cantilever arm. The motion of the oscillating cantilever arm is measured, to generate a deflection signal indicative of the amplitude of deflection or phase shift of the cantilever arm. Selected portions of cycles of the output signal are sampled, for generating output signal data indicative of deflection of the near and far excursions of the probe. The method and apparatus permit monitoring of compliance of the surface of the specimen by multiple sampling at a rate greater than the period of oscillation of the cantilever probe of the microscope.

The method employs complement mediated lysis of vesicles loaded with In-111 or other gamma-emitting cation, and quantitative detection of the lysis by gamma-ray perturbed angular correlation (PAC) spectroscopy. The vesicles are labeled with a substance competitive to the antigen to be measured, and the concentration of the antigen in the sample measured by assessing the diminution in lysis due to the presence of the competing antigen.The method may also be used to assess the immunologic competence of a subject by injecting suitably sensitized vesicles and monitoring the in vivo lysis pattern by (PAC).
