Abstract: The illumination module for emitting light (5) can operate in at least two different modes, wherein in each of the modes, the emitted light (5) has a different light distribution. The module has a mode selector (10) for selecting the mode in which the module operates, and it has an optical arrangement. The arrangement includes—a microlens array (LL1) with a multitude of transmissive or reflective microlenses (2) which are regularly arranged at a lens pitch P (P1);—an illuminating unit for illuminating the microlens array (LL1). The illuminating unit includes a first array of light sources (S1) operable to emit light of a first wavelength L1 each and having an aperture each. The apertures are located in a common emission plane which is located at a distance D (D1) from the microlens array (LL1). In a first one of the modes, for the lens pitch P, the distance D and the wavelength L1 applies P2=2·L1·D/N wherein N is an integer with N≥1.

Abstract: Various optoelectronic modules are described and include one or more optoelectronic devices. Each optoelectronic module includes one or more optoelectronic devices. Sidewalls laterally surround each optoelectronic device and can be in direct contact with sides of the optoelectronic device or, in some cases, with an overmold surrounding the optoelectronic device. The sidewalls can be composed, for example, of a vacuum injected material that is non-transparent to light emitted by or detectable by the optoelectronic device. The module also includes a passive optical element. Depending on the implementation, the passive optical element can be on a cover for the module, directly on a top surface of the optoelectronic device, or on an overmold surrounding the optoelectronic device. Methods of fabricating such modules are described as well, and can facilitate manufacturing the modules using wafer-level processes.

Abstract: This disclosure describes illumination assemblies operable to generate a patterned illumination that maintain high contrast over a wide temperature range. An implementation of the illumination assembly can include an array of monochromatic light sources positioned on an illumination plane, first and second optical elements, and an exit aperture. A chief ray of each light source within the array of monochromatic light sources can substantially converge at an exit aperture. In such implementations light generated by the array of monochromatic light sources can be used efficiently.

At least one of the prism bodies (41, 42) and/or at least one of the side panels (71-74) can be at least in part made of a non-transparent dielectric material such as a printed circuit board. In some implementations, an optoelectronic component (90) can be attached to the respective constituent of the optical device (1).

Abstract: An apparatus for producing structured light comprises a first optical arrangement which comprises a microlens array (L1) comprising a multitude of transmissive or reflective microlenses (2) which are regularly arranged at a lens pitch P and an illumination unit for illuminating the microlens array. The illumination unit comprises an array (S1) of light sources (1) for emitting light of a wavelength L each and having an aperture each, wherein the apertures are located in a common emission plane which is located at a distance D from the microlens array. For the lens pitch P, the distance D and the wavelength L, the following equation applies P2=2LD/N, wherein N is an integer with N≥1. High-contrast high-intensity light patterns can be produced. Devices comprising such apparatuses can be used for depth mapping.

Abstract: This disclosure describes optical systems for projecting an irregular or complex pattern onto a region of space (e.g., a two-dimensional or three-dimensional object or scene). A respective light beam is emitted from each of a plurality of light sources. The emitted light beams collectively are diffracted in accordance with a plurality of different first grating parameters to produce a plurality of first diffracted light beams. The first diffracted light beams then collectively are diffracted in accordance with one or more second grating parameters.

Abstract: The method for manufacturing optical light guide elements comprises providing a plurality of initial bars, each initial bar extending along a respective initial-bar direction from a first bar end to a second bar end and having a first side face extending from the first bar end to the second bar end, the first side face being reflective; positioning the initial bars in a row with their respective initial-bar directions aligned parallel to each other and with their respective first surfaces facing towards a neighboring one of the initial bars; and fixing the plurality of initial bars with respect to each other in the position to obtain a bar arrangement.
