摘要: An exhaust system for a lean-burn internal combustion engine is described, and includes an injection system for injecting reductant into an exhaust gas feedstream upstream of a selective catalytic reduction device (SCR). A control method for controlling the injection system includes determining an upstream NOx gas concentration upstream of the SCR device, determining a measured downstream NOx gas concentration based upon a signal output from a sensor configured to monitor NOx gas concentration downstream of the SCR device, and determining an estimated downstream NOx gas concentration based upon an executable model. A first correlation between the upstream NOx gas concentration and the measured downstream NOx gas concentration is determined, and a second correlation between the upstream NOx gas concentration and the estimated downstream NOx gas concentration is determined. The reductant injection is controlled based upon the first and second correlations.

An ammonia adsorption amount of the selective reduction-type NOx catalyst is estimated based on one or a plurality of prescribed parameters related to the ammonia adsorption amount and a specific ammonia adsorption amount that is an estimated value of the ammonia adsorption amount specified by at least one of a maximum value and a minimum value of an estimated value of the ammonia adsorption amount is estimated based on an error in the prescribed parameter, and when the specific ammonia adsorption amount is outside a target range of the ammonia adsorption amount, addition of an ammonia precursor or ammonia using an adding valve is controlled such that the specific ammonia adsorption amount returns to the target range.

摘要: A method for regenerating a lean NOx trap (LNT) of an exhaust purification system having the LNT and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst includes determining whether a regeneration release condition of the LNT is satisfied; determining whether a regeneration demand condition of the LNT is satisfied; and performing regeneration of the LNT if the regeneration release condition of the LNT and the regeneration demand condition of the LNT are satisfied, wherein satisfaction of the regeneration release condition of the LNT is determined based on an NOx amount absorbed in the LNT, an NH3 amount stored in the SCR catalyst and temperature at an upstream of the SCR catalyst.

摘要: An exhaust gas purification system includes a previous-stage oxidation catalyst device, an ammonia-based solution feeder, a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) device, a turbine of a turbocharger, and a NOx selective reduction catalyst device in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine in this order from an exhaust port side. The NH3 production rate is improved, thereby improving the NOx removal rate; the temperature of the DPF device is kept high to increase the time and frequency of continuous regeneration, thus decreasing the frequency of forced regeneration of the DPF device and the amount of discharge of CO2 produced during the forced regeneration; and also corrosion of the turbine of the turbocharger by SOx is suppressed.

摘要: It is possible to decrease the amount of NOx emitted into the air. The amount of ammonia adsorbed on an SCR catalyst is calculated by subtracting the amount of ammonium nitrate produced on the SCR catalyst from the amount of ammonia adsorbed on the SCR catalyst at the time of starting of an internal combustion engine, and the amount of NO2 flowing into the SCR catalyst is decreased when an NOx purification rate estimated from the amount of ammonia adsorbed on the SCR catalyst is less than a threshold value compared to when the NOx purification rate is equal to or greater than the threshold value.

摘要: A header unit for a reductant tank is provided. The header unit includes a reductant draw conduit extending into an interior space of the reductant tank. The reductant draw conduit is configured to draw a reductant from the reductant tank. The reductant draw conduit includes at least one expansion opening provided along a length thereof. The header unit also includes a valve element coupled to the reductant draw conduit. The valve element includes a main body member defining a channel therethrough. The main body member circumferentially surrounds at least a portion of the reductant draw conduit corresponding to the at least one expansion opening. The main body member is made of an elastomeric material configured to accommodate an expansion thereof.

摘要: A chemical thermal storage device includes a reactor and an adsorber connected to the reactor via a pipe. The reactor has a stack structure body having a plurality of plate-shaped heat generation parts and a plurality of heat exchange parts alternately stacked. The heat generation part has a thermal storage material that generates heat upon chemical reaction with NH3 and desorbs NH3 upon reception of waste heat, and a metal casing that contains the thermal storage material. The heat exchange part is a passage of exhaust gas and is constituted of a metal fin. The metal casings of the heat generation parts and the heat exchange parts are joined to each other by brazing, welding or the like.
