摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for affixing a fastener to the garment side of an absorbent article having a profiled shape, especially an absorbent article that is thicker in the center than at the ends. The method involves placing a fastener with its pressure sensitive adhesive surface adjacent the garment side of the absorbent article, and applying pressure to adhere the pressure sensitive adhesive surface to the garment side of the absorbent article while the absorbent article and the fastener are between a compressible component and an anvil surface. The apparatus comprises a compressible component comprising a surface with a plurality of compressible, resilient elements projecting therefrom in a direction toward an anvil surface.

摘要: A breast prosthesis to be worn on the body of a person who has had a mastectomy includes a soft-elastic prosthetic body made of two plastic sheets which are connected to each other along a common edge, with a plastic mass being contained hollow-free between the plastic sheets. The prosthetic body has a front side resembling in its form the natural breast and a rear side which faces the wearer's body. A fabric member covers the rear side and is attached solely to the peripheral edge of the plastic sheets of the prosthetic body to thereby increase the comfort of wearing the breast prosthesis. The fabric member is suitably made of thermoplastic material, with the welding of the plastic sheets and the welding of the fabric member with the plastic sheets being carried out in a single working step.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for making a laminate having utility in an electrical inductive apparatus, which first comprises coating at least one side of a metal substrate with a solventless liquid resin system comprising an ultraviolet radiation curable acrylic or vinyl monomer and a heat reactive thermoset adhesive resin. The resin system on the coated metal substrate is then exposed to ultraviolet radiation to cure the ultraviolet radiation curable monomer. The resin system is now a tacky solid layer. The laminates so formed can be assembled into components for use in applications such as electric power transformers, ignition coils, generators, chokes, reactors, solenoids ballasts, motors and electronics, in which prior art laminates have been utilized. The assembled laminates are then exposed to sufficient heat to cure the heat reactive thermoset resin and adhere the laminate layers together.

摘要: An intravascular catheter introducer which comprises a tubular sheath having a distal end, for extending through the skin of a patient and into the vascular system. The sheath defines a lumen for receiving a catheter. A hub is carried on the proximal end of the sheath. The hub defines a bore communicating between the lumen and the exterior. A catheter-penetratable seal is carried in the bore, with the sheath carrying an embedded tubular reinforcing strand member along at least a majority of its length. Thus improved kink resistance is provided. Also, improved frictional characteristics are provided when the tubular sheath comprises polytetrafluoroethylene.

摘要: A method of forming a continuous structure includes the steps of preselecting a liquid reactive resin forming material, a particulate solid additive material and a porous blanket. The additive particles are mixed with the liquid resin forming material substantially continuously in a proportion significantly greater than that of the liquid resin forming material. Substantially all of the additive particles are encapsulated with the liquid resin forming material to a preselected thickness. A pool of the resulting mixture is formed on the blanket. The blanket is advanced at a rate sufficient to create movement of the additive particles within the pool and maintain the additive particles in suspension. Part of the liquid resin forming material is migrated through the blanket substantially uniformly prior to gelling of the liquid resin forming material to form a continuous resin matrix within the blanket. Also, apparatus forming the structure as well as the structure itself.

摘要: An incontinence electrode for controlling urinary incontinence in women is made of alternating bands of conductive and non-conductive polymers molded to form a tubular body. Electrical receptacles, formed in the molding process at the interior circumferential surface of the conductive polymer bands, accept metal contacts attached to electrical leads to make a secure and durable, mechanical and electrical connection between the conductive polymer bands and the leads. The leads are coupled to a controller and carry electrical current to and from the metal contacts which then distribute the current to the conductive polymer bands to cause a contraction of the vaginal muscles responsive for controlling urinary incontinence in women.
