Abstract: A powered device augments a joint function of a human during a gait cycle using a powered actuator that supplies an augmentation torque, an impedance, or both to a joint, and a controller that modulates the augmentation torque, the impedance, and a joint equilibrium according to a phase of the gait cycle to provide at least a biomimetic response. Accordingly, the device is capable of normalizing or augmenting human biomechanical function, responsive to a wearer's activity, regardless of speed and terrain.

Abstract: The invention relates to an exoskeleton for assisting human movement, which can be fitted to the user in terms of dimensions, tension and ranges of joint motion, either manually or automatically. Said exoskeleton can be fitted to the user in the anteroposterior direction in the sagittal plane, with the user in a horizontal or sitting position, without requiring a functional transfer. The exoskeleton has a modular design which is compatible with human biomechanics and reproduces a natural and physiological movement in the user, with up to 7 actuated and controlled degrees of movement per limb, ensuring that the user maintains equilibrium during locomotion.

Abstract: A method of treating hypertension in a patient includes 1) generating, by an electroacupuncture device implanted beneath a skin surface of the patient at an acupoint corresponding to a target tissue location within the patient, stimulation sessions at a duty cycle that is less than 0.05, wherein the duty cycle is a ratio of T3 to T4, each stimulation session included in the stimulation sessions has a duration of T3 minutes and occurs at a rate of once every T4 minutes, and the electroacupuncture device comprises a central electrode of a first polarity and an annular electrode of a second polarity and that is spaced apart from the central electrode; and 2) applying, by the electroacupuncture device, the stimulation sessions to the target tissue location by way of the central electrode and the annular electrode in accordance with the duty cycle.

Abstract: A pool apparatus for users to do activities in the pool apparatus. The pool apparatus includes a pool main body, one or more than one reaction deices and a control circuit. The control circuit is connected to the reaction device and controls the reaction device according to a setting to increase additional functions of the pool apparatus. When the control circuit is connected to an external device via at least one wireless network, a user may use the external device to adjust the setting. The external device does not need to be paired with the control circuit in advance. Instead, the external device interacts with the control circuit via a protocol to access and adjust the setting.

Abstract: Disclosed are devices and methods for mitigating insulin resistance in a human subject by contacting one or more regions of the neck, the supraclavicular, and the interscapular regions of the human subject with a part of a cooling device, wherein the part of the cooling device has a temperature at about 15 or less Celsius degrees; cooling the one or more regions of the neck, the supraclavicular, and the interscapular regions of the human subject for a cooling period of at least 15 minutes; and performing previous two steps daily for about 14 or more days. The devices and methods may also be used to preventing, delaying or treating type 2 diabetes in a human subject or activating brown fat without incurring a sympathetic nerve-mediated cold feeling in a human subject.

Abstract: An electro-hydro massage device enhances the therapeutic benefits of electrical nerve and muscle stimulation by incorporating simultaneous tactile and thermal stimulation from water flow, using a hand-held source of electric current and water flow, in contact with the user's skin. The water flow also reduces the skin's resistance to electrical current and provides warming or cooling to complement and enhance effects of the electrical stimulation. The treatment surface of the hand-held electro-hydro massage device contacts the user's skin and contains two or more electrodes and one or more sources of water flow. The electrically conductive electrodes imbedded in the treatment surface are connected to a battery-powered electrical source with controls to select the source voltage amplitude, voltage frequency, pulse frequency, and other characteristics to achieve the desired physiological effects. The device is connected to a water source with selectable temperature and flow rate, with aeration to facilitate more gentle and uniform water flow over the treatment area.
