摘要: Embodiments that relate to head-mounted computing device for providing navigation assistance via audio output are disclosed. For example, in one disclosed embodiment depth image and visible image data are used to generate a three-dimensional mesh of at least a portion of an environment. Using the mesh, at least one feature in the environment is detected. When operating in a familiar navigation mode and based on detecting the feature, a first audio navigation cue is outputted to the user. When operating in an unfamiliar navigation mode and based on detecting the feature, a second audio navigation cue is outputted to the user, where the second audio navigation cue differs from the first audio navigation cue.

摘要: A power supply for a retina implant at least partly located in the interior of a patient's eye is described. The power supply comprises a first transmission coil (4, 23), a second transmission coil (5, 24). The power supply further comprises a signal generation unit adapted for generating a first high frequency signal and a second high frequency signal, and for applying the first high frequency signal to the first transmission coil and the second high frequency signal to the second transmission coil, the second high frequency signal being phase shifted relative to the first high frequency signal. The first transmission coil is adapted for transmitting the first high frequency signal, and the second transmission coil is adapted for transmitting the second high frequency signal.

摘要: The present invention is a saliency-based apparatus and methods for visual prostheses. A saliency-based component processes video data output by a digital signal processor before the video data are input to the retinal stimulator. In a saliency-based method, an intensity stream is extracted from an input image, feature maps based on the intensity stream are developed, plural most salient regions of the input image are detected and one of the regions is selected as a highest saliency region.

摘要: A retinal prosthesis including an electronic stimulation unit housed inside an eye and including: a plurality of electrodes that contact a portion of a retina of the eye; an electronic control circuit, which is electrically connected to the electrodes and supplies to the electrodes electrical stimulation signals designed to stimulate the portion of retina; and a local antenna connected to the electronic control circuit. The retinal prosthesis further includes an electromagnetic expansion housed inside the eye and formed by a first expansion antenna and a second expansion antenna electrically connected together, the first expansion antenna being magnetically or electromagnetically coupled to an external antenna, the second expansion antenna being magnetically or electromagnetically couple to the local antenna, the electromagnetic expansion moreover receiving an electromagnetic supply signal transmitted by the external antenna and generating a corresponding replica signal.

摘要: A device and method are provided for audible facial recognition. In one implementation, an apparatus for aiding a visually impaired user to identify individuals is provided. The apparatus may include a portable image sensor configured to be worn by the visually impaired user and to capture real-time image data from an environment of the user. The apparatus may also include at least one portable processor device configured to determine an existence of face-identifying information in the real-time image data, and access stored facial information and audible indicators. The at least one portable processor device may also be configured to compare the face-identifying information with the stored facial information, and identify a match. Based on the match, the at least one portable processor may be configured to cause an audible indicator to be announced to the visually impaired user.
