Abstract:
A foamable composition is described that includes at least one base polymer, at least one propellant, at least one lubricant and/or at least one heat stabilizer, and optionally additional additives, selected from crosslinking agents, heat reflectors, heat flow additives, anti-condensation additives, and/or fillers. Corresponding compositions can be processed into polymer foams which can have a heat conductivity of
Abstract:
A steering wheel cover comprising a core layer is disclosed. The core layer includes an inner surface molded to form and self-maintain an annular channel sized to receive an automobile steering wheel therein. The core layer also includes an outer surface and two opposing terminating edges. The steering wheel cover is devoid of an outer cover layer coupled to the core layer. Thus no adhesives or stitching are required. In particular embodiments, the core layer includes a first foamed material, such as but not limited to ethyl-vinyl acetate. The core layer may also include one or more protrusions extending from the outer surface of the core layer. The protrusions may include a second foamed material of a different hardness than the first foamed material. The core layer may also include ribs protruding from the inner surface of the annular channel and/or holes extending through the core layer.
Abstract:
A coated fabric includes a fabric from monoaxially drawn polymer tapes, in particular polyolefin or polyester tapes, preferably polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate tapes. The fabric is coated with a sealing layer from a thermoplastic synthetic material the melting point of which is below the crystallite melting point of the fabric tape material. The coated fabric is excellently suitable for hot-air, ultrasonic, heated tool, infrared or laser beam welding.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a sponge composition for a shoe sole. The sponge composition includes an ethylene copolymer as a matrix, a crosslinking agent, a foaming agent, and a polyvinyl acetate as an adhesion improver. The sponge includes 100 parts by weight of a matrix including an ethylene copolymer, 0.02 to 1.5 parts by weight of a crosslinking agent, 1 to 6 parts by weight of a foaming agent, and 2 to 40 parts by weight of a polyvinyl acetate.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an extruder (10), particularly for extruding a synthetic rubber product, which comprises a barrel (24), one or several extruder elements (12, 14), particularly one or several extruder screws and/or a kneader elements (14), arranged inside the barrel (24) for conveying the product, optionally an inlet port for feeding a stripping agent into the barrel (24) and an outlet port for removing volatile compounds from the product and, where applicable, the stripping agent. According to the invention a perforated die plate (26) is fixed to the barrel (24) in flow direction before the outlet port. Since the die plate (26) is not fixed to the extruder elements (12, 14) but to the barrel (24) a circumferential clearance between the die plate (26) and the barrel (24) is prevented so that no extruded material is passing the die plate (26) radially outside. Parts of the extruded material comprising a low surface area to volume ratio are prevented so that the evaporation of volatile compounds is facilitated.
Abstract:
The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to methods of making and using films that serve as barriers to atmospheric oxygen. More particularly, the presently disclosed subject matter pertains to methods of making and using films wherein at least one layer of the film contains a blend of primary and secondary barrier components. The primary barrier component is present in the layer in an amount of from about 65 to 95 weight percent, based on the blend weight, and comprises ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer having an ethylene unit content ranging from 21 to 30 mol %. The secondary barrier component is present in the layer in an amount of from about 5 to 55 weight percent, based on blend weight, and comprises ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer having an ethylene unit content ranging from 41 to 50 mol %.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a connecting apparatus used for connecting underground pipes and to a composition for preparing a foamed sheet for the same. Specifically, the present invention relates to a sheet composition for pipe connection which comprises 1 to 10 parts by weight of a masterbatch including low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, a maleic anhydride graft copolymer, a metallocene polyethylene elastomer, a foaming agent, and an additive, based on 100 parts by weight of a base resin including low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, a maleic anhydride graft copolymer, and a metallocene polyethylene elastomer. When using the composition according to the present invention, a non-foamed sheet is produced during melt extrusion, and a foamed sheet is obtained at a high temperature by laminating the non-foamed sheet with a heater line and applying electricity thereto. Therefore, the sheet composition can be fused and filled into a pipe.
Abstract:
A pipe connecting tool having a pipe joining material section including a pipe joining material container, a conduit from the pipe joining material container to a delivery nozzle, and a heater in thermal communication with at least a portion of the pipe joining material section. The pipe connecting tool may include one or both of a sensor for determining when a cavity has been filled by pipe joining material ejected from the delivery nozzle and a drill module.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses of joining a first pipe and a second pipe by injecting a pipe joining material into an interstitial space between abutting surfaces are provided. The methods and apparatuses may use a hollow fitting into which pipe ends may be inserted
