Abstract:
Bitstream switching for multiple bit rate video streaming uses a first algorithm to generate multiple encoded bitstreams of a piece of video at different bit rates. A different algorithm is used to generate multiple side bitstreams of the video. Each side stream is generated at respective ones of the different bit rates. The side bitstreams comprise switching frames to switch from a first bitstream encoded with the first algorithm at a first bit rate to a second bitstream encoded with the first algorithm at a different bit rate. At non-bitstream switching points, frames from respective ones of bitstreams generated with the first algorithm are streamed for presentation. At a bitstream switching point, a switching frame from a respective side bitstream is transmitted to a decoder to transition streaming from a first of the respective ones of the bitstreams to a second of the respective ones of the bitstreams.
Abstract:
Computation scheduling and allocation for visual communication is described. In one aspect, multiple frames of video data are encoded by allocating for at least a subset of inter-coded frames, on frame-by-frame basis, computational resources to encode the inter-coded frame. To this end, a computational budget to encode a current inter-coded frame is estimated. The estimate is based on the actual computational costs to encode a previous inter-coded frame of video data. Next, sets of operations associated with encoding the current inter-coded frame are analyzed to determine computational resources to implement the operations. If the computational resources exceed the computational budget, complexity of the operations is reduced until the associated computational resources are less than or equal to the computational budget. At this point, the current inter-coded frame is encoded using the operations and the computational budget. This process is repeated for the remaining inter-coded frames of video data.

Abstract:
The invention discloses a bi-directional prediction method for video coding/decoding. When bi-directional prediction coding at the coding end, firstly the given forward candidate motion vector of the current image block is obtained for every image block of the current B-frame; the backward candidate motion vector is obtained through calculation, and the candidate bi-directional prediction reference block is obtained through bi-directional prediction method; the match is computed within the given searching scope and/or the given matching threshold; finally the optimal matching block is selected to determine the final forward motion vector, and the backward motion vector and the block residual. The present invention achieves the object of bi-directional prediction by coding a single motion vector, furthermore, it will not enhance the complexity of searching for a matching block at the coding end, and may save amount of coding the motion vector and represent the motion of the objects in video more actually. The present invention realizes a new prediction coding type by combining the forward prediction coding with the backward.

Abstract:
In a process for capacitive object detection in a vehicle seat, capacitors arranged in the backrest and in the seat surface are influenced by an object. The capacitors are acted upon by alternating voltage and their capacitance is determined individually. From the value of each of the two capacitances, an evaluation of the object is derived by means of a value table. When the two evaluations correspond to one another (concerning the type of an object), an occupant protection system assigned to the seat is correspondingly activated or deactivated.
