    摘要: The present invention discloses a transgenic fly that expresses a carboxy terminal fragment of the human amyloid-β precursor protein (APP) and a double transgenic fly that expresses both the fragment of APP and tau protein. The transgenic flies of the present invention provide for models of neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease. The invention further discloses methods for identifying genetic modifiers, as well as screening methods to identify therapeutic compounds to treat neurodegenerative disorders using the transgenic flies.

    摘要: A digital growth plotter according to the present invention includes a housing for being conveniently and ergonomically held by a caregiver. The growth plotter includes a processor, input devices, a data storage device, and a display. The housing may include a battery for energizing the electronic components. The input device may include a keypad and touch screen for efficient user entry of growth information, said growth information being stored in the digital storage device. The processor includes programming for downloading an up-to-date growth chart for comparison with recorded growth information. The processor also includes programming for plotting a growth chart according to the recorded and standard growth information. Then, the processor may upload the recorded information to a compiling entity so that the standard chart may be updated/revised for more accurate comparisons and analysis in the future.

    摘要: Single or multiple blood plasma component concentrations are measured by a disposable stick having one or more blood plasma component reactive areas covered by a semipermeable membrane which is permeable by blood plasma or serum components and inpermeable by blood cellular and particulate matter. A second overlap may be superposed with the semipermeable membrane over the reactive areas to receive a blood sample and meter and distribute that sample uniformly to the semipermeable membrane which in turn passes the plasma components uniformly to the reactive areas. The overlays are subsequently separable from the reactive area to remove the cellular components and particulate matter and expose the reactive areas for inspection by, for example, color comparison to standardized charts.
