Abstract: An exhaust gas purification catalyst containing a CeO2 particle supported on the surface of an MnO2 particle, wherein the Ce amount relative to the total amount of Mn and Ce (Ce/(Mn+Ce)) in the catalyst is more than 0 mol % and 40 mol % or less; and a method for producing the exhaust gas purification catalyst above, including mixing an aqueous solution containing a manganese ion and a cerium ion in a ratio of more than 0 mol % and 40 mol % or less in terms of the Ce amount relative to the total amount of Mn and Ce (Ce/(Mn+Ce)) and an aqueous solution having dissolved therein a carbonate ion-containing reducing agent, thereby precipitating a particle, and firing the particle, are provided.

Abstract: The exhaust gas-purifying catalyst of the invention includes a noble metal, and crystallites that form CZ composite metal particles which serve as a carrier supporting the noble metal and contain at least zirconium (Zr) and cerium (Ce). The CZ composite oxide particles (crystallites) further contain crystal growth-suppressing fine particles which are fine metal particles comprising primarily a metallic element M that melts at 1,500° C. or above and which suppress crystal growth by the CZ composite oxide particles. The content of the metallic element M included in the CZ composite oxide particles, expressed in terms of the oxide thereof, is 0.5 mol % or less of the total oxide.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing acrylic acid from acetic acid and formaldehyde, which comprises (a) provision of a stream S1 comprising acetic acid and formaldehyde, where the molar ratio of acetic acid to formaldehyde in the stream S1 is in the range from 0.5:1 to 2:1; (b) contacting of the stream S1 with an aldol condensation catalyst comprising vanadium, phosphorus and oxygen to give a stream S2 comprising acrylic acid, where, in (b), the space velocity WHSV is in the range from 0.35 to 7.0 kg/kg/h.

Abstract: A production method comprising: adding a hydroxycarboxylic acid to an aqueous solution containing a Ce salt, a Zr salt, an Al salt, and at least one selected from a La salt, an Mg salt, and a Ca salt, to produce a gel, heating the gel to obtain a solid product by decomposition of the salts, firing the solid product to obtain a fired product containing a ceria-zirconia-based regular array phase precursor and an aluminate-based composite oxide precursor, performing a reducing heat treatment of the fired product to obtain a first composite having mutually dispersed therein a pyrochlore phase and an aluminate-based composite oxide, and performing an oxidizing heat treatment of the first composite to obtain a second composite in which at least part of the pyrochlore phase is transformed into a κ phase; and an oxygen storage material having mutually dispersed therein the composite oxide and the regular array phase.
