    摘要: A device for purifying exhaust gas of a diesel engine comprising a first continuous regeneration type diesel particulate filter arranged in the exhaust gas passage of an engine, a by-path by-passing the exhaust gas passage on the upstream side of the first continuous regeneration type diesel particulate filter, a second continuous regeneration type diesel particulate filter arranged in the by-path, a change-over valve arranged in the exhaust gas passage between the by-path, an exhaust gas temperature-elevating means, an exhaust gas temperature region detecting means, and a control means for controlling the exhaust gas temperature-elevating means and the change-over valve based on the exhaust gas temperature region of the engine detected by the exhaust gas temperature region detecting means. When the exhaust gas temperature region of the engine detected by the exhaust gas temperature region detecting means is a temperature range lower than a predetermined temperature region, the control means actuates the exhaust gas temperature-elevating means and controls the change-over valve so that the exhaust gas passes through the second continuous regeneration type diesel particulate filter.

    摘要: In a diesel engine, the closing timing for the intake valves is maintained in the vicinity of bottom dead center during engine starting and in a low engine revolution speed region, while on the other hand this closing timing is retarded the more from bottom dead center, the higher is the engine revolution speed region, and thereby the engine can be designed with a lower compression ratio. Preferably the temperature within the cylinder at compression top dead center, i.e. the compressions stroke end temperature, is calculated, and the closing timing for the intake valves is controlled so as to keep this final compression temperature within a predetermined range. By doing this, reduction of the size of the diesel engine is made possible due to lowering of the compression ratio thereof, while both the composition of the exhaust gas and also engine output power are maintained at preferable levels.

    摘要: A trouble-detection apparatus for an EGR system provided with an EGR control valve in an EGR passage, capable of correctly detecting a position in the EGR passage at which the clogging has occurred. The trouble-detection apparatus is applied to the system having the EGR control valve controlled by a negative pressure in the EGR passage wherein a lift amount of the EGR control valve is controlled by a lift sensor in a feedback manner in accordance with the operating state of the engine. According to the trouble-detection apparatus, the amplitude of the lift amount detected by the lift sensor is obtained and the pulses in the exhaust-gas flow are calculated from the detected amplitude. When the amplitude of the pulses in the exhaust-gas flow does not reach a threshold value preset in accordance with the operating state of the internal combustion engine, it is determined that clogging as occurred in the EGR passage. In such a case, it is also possible to determine whether or not the clogging has occurred in the EGR passage by dividing the lift amount detected by the lift sensor into two subsystems, extracting solely a pulse component therefrom, calculating an amplitude of the extracted pulse component, and comparing the calculated amplitude with a threshold value.

    摘要: An engine controller (12) controls an ignition system (88) and bypass throttle valve (96). An ignition timing signal is set to an initial value as a function of engine (10) operating parameters. The timing signal is retarded during cold operation to rapidly warm a catalyst converter (20) coupled to the engine exhaust (48). When the vacuum in the intake manifold (44) falls below a threshold level, the ignition timing signal is advanced beyond the initial value. The ignition timing signal is retarded back towards its initial value when the manifold vacuum exceeds the threshold value. Concurrently, the initial timing signal is controlled to achieve desired engine idle speed.

A series of dedicated adaptive correction values are selectively updated and stored in memory in response to the degree of deviation for corresponding engine operating ranges. Proportional and integral correction for air inlet rate deviations is thereby provided to an otherwise open-loop desired EGR quantity.
