    摘要: A filtration method and associated apparatus are disclosed for improving the separation yield of matrix based compositions. The method includes the steps of positioning a matrix based composition that includes at least some liquid in a filter vessel and applying a moderate over-pressure to the composition upstream of the filter to accelerate the movement of liquid through the filter. The associated apparatus includes a funnel support, a funnel resting in the funnel support, a filter cup resting in the funnel opposite the funnel support, an over-pressure cap for engaging the filter cup opposite the funnel, and a source of pressurized gas in communication with the over-pressure cap for supplying a moderate over pressure to the filter cup for accelerating the movement of solvent through the filter cup and the funnel.

    摘要: A method and associated instrument are disclosed for increasing the sequential rate at which a series of microwave assisted chemical reactions that potentially generate high pressure can be carried out. The method includes the steps of opening a pressure-resistant valve on a microwave-transparent pressure-resistant vessel to define a unpressurized pathway through the valve into the vessel, inserting a tube through the pathway in the valve and into the vessel, transferring at least one composition into the vessel through the tube, removing the tube from the vessel and from the pathway in the valve, closing the valve to seal the vessel against pressure release, and exposing the vessel and its contents to microwave radiation. The instrument includes a source of microwave radiation, a cavity in microwave communication with the source, an attenuator that forms at least a portion of the cavity, a pressure-resistant microwave-transparent reaction vessel having portions in the cavity and portions in the attenuator, a pressure-resistant valve on the mouth of the vessel, a reciprocating tube for passing through the valve and into the vessel when the valve is open, and means for mechanically inserting and retracting the tube through the valve and into the vessel when the vessel is in the cavity and the attenuator.

The closure includes a pressure-resistant, microwave-transparent reaction vessel, one portion of which defines a mouth, a flexible pressure-transmitting releasable cover assembly on the mouth of the vessel, a pressure transducer on the cover and external to the vessel for monitoring the pressure in the vessel as exerted against the flexible cover, and a clamp for urging the vessel, the cover and the transducer together under a defined force so that when the pressure in the vessel exceeds the defined force, the cover can flex and release the pressure from the vessel.

    摘要: A self sealing vessel assembly for high pressure microwave assisted chemistry is disclosed. The vessel assembly includes a polymeric cylinder and a circular polymeric cap for the cylinder, the cylinder being closed at one end and open at the other end to receive the cap. The open end of the cylinder has a lip that is beveled inwardly from the open end, and the circular polymeric cap has a beveled lower edge that engages the beveled lip when the cap is place upon the polymericcylinder. For high pressure applications, a choke cylinder depends from the beveled lower edge of the cap, and has an outer diameter substantially the same as the inner diameter of the polymeric cylinder so that the choke provides a self sealing mechanism for the cylinder as pressure from a chemical reaction increases within the cylinder. A composite sleeve surrounds the polymeric cylinder, and includes at least one wound fabric layer in which the winding is selected from the group consisting of filaments and yarns. A supporting frame extends along the cylinder and across the lid and across the closed end of the cylinder, and prevents the lid from being displaced from the cylinder when pressure is generated inside of the vessel.
