Abstract:
The low temperature flowability of a middle distillate petroleum fuel oil boiling within the range of about 250* to about 700*F. at atmospheric pressure is improved by adding to the fuel oil from about 0.1 to about 3 weight percent of an essentially saturated hydrocarbon fraction which is substantially free of normal paraffinic hydrocarbons and which has a number average molecular weight in the range of about 600 to about 3,000, together with a flow-improving additive such as a copolymer of ethylene and an unsaturated ester, wherein said copolymer has less than six methyl terminating side branches per 100 methylene groups, the weight ratio of said saturated hydrocarbon fraction to said copolymer flow-improving additive being in the range of about 25:1 to 1:1.
Abstract:
OIL-SOLUBLE POLYMERS OF UNSATURATED ESTERS HAVING AKYL SIDE CHAINS CONTAINING ABOUT 18 TO 34 CARBON ATOMS IMPROVE FLOW AND POUR POINTS OF HIGH WAX CONTENT PETROLEUM OILS SUCH AS CRUDES, RESIDUA, ETC., AND ARE USEFUL AS DEWAXING ACIDS.
Abstract:
A method for inhibiting the deposition of wax from waxcontaining petroleum and other wax-containing oils in which a small amount of a wax deposition inhibitor comprised of a copolymer of ethylene and a monoethylenically unsaturated ester is added to the petroleum.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an antifoam component which includes at least one poly(acrylate) copolymer for use in a fuel. Poly(acrylate) polymers prepared by polymerizing a (meth)acrylate monomer comprising C1 to C30 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid (“multifunctional monomer”) are also disclosed. Other poly(acrylate) polymers prepared by polymerizing (i) a (meth)acrylate monomer comprising C1 to C4 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid (“solubility monomer”); (ii) a (meth)acrylate monomer comprising C5 to C12 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid (“surface tension monomer”); and (iii) optionally at least one additional monomer comprising a solubility monomer, a surface tension monomer, a monomer comprising C1 to C30 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid (“multifunctional monomer”), or combinations thereof are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A fuel composition that provides a renewable biofuel energy source for reducing dependence on fossil fuels and improving air quality by reducing the amount of carbon monoxide released into the air during combustion. The fuel composition includes an energy crop comprising: a solid granular component being suspended in a liquid non-petroleum plant based fuel. The liquid fuel containing the granular component is efficacious in releasing copious quantities of vapor for burning. The vapor provides a more complete and efficient burn. The fuel composition further comprises an oxidizing agent for removing a plurality of electrons from the granular component during combustion, and/or an additive that imparts a change in the physical properties of the fuel composition.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a fuel oil composition, containing a low-sulfur marine diesel having a sulfur content of less than 1 wt. % and (A) at least one ethylene copolymer and (B) at least one comb polymer.
