摘要: The present invention relates to a power amplification circuit of a mobile device for improving the efficiency and the linearity properties of the power amplifier. In one embodiment, the power amplifier improves these properties by controlling the input voltage of the supplemental amplifier so that the power amplifier operates as the Doherty mode in the low output power mode depending on the magnitude of the output power from the output unit and so that the input voltage of the supplemental amplifier may be increased up to satisfy the non-linear operational requirements of a power amplifier in the high output power mode. Moreover, because only the input voltage of the supplemental amplifier is controlled, the power amplifier can be implemented in a simple manner. Thus, the size of the power amplifier becomes small, which in turn reduces the cost of the power amplifier, among other things.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a radio frequency power amplifier of multi stage amplifying method that is designed to reduce instability of output power caused by electromagnetic coupling of bias supply terminals and interconnections of each stage to thereby operate stably. Another object of the present invention is to provide a radio frequency power amplifier that is designed to reduce distortion of output power caused by electromagnetic coupling of bias supply terminals and interconnections of each stage to thereby provide high efficiency. The above objects can be achieved by providing a first interconnection connected to a terminal for supplying a voltage for collector driving to a power amplifying transistor, a second interconnection connected to a terminal for supplying a voltage for collector driving to a second transistor controlling a base bias voltage of the above transistor, and one or more ground parts for electromagnetic shield, wherein the first interconnection and the second interconnection are separated by one or more of the ground parts for electromagnetic shield.

摘要: A composite power amplifier structure includes a first power amplifier (PAN+1) configured as an auxiliary amplifier of a Doherty amplifier and connected to an output node and an even number of further power amplifiers configured into at least one Chireix pair (PA 1, 1+PA 1,2 . . . PA N, 1 +PA N,2) connected to the same output node. The Chireix pairs are driven (40) at least partially in outphasing modes and the first power amplifier is driven (40) in the same manner as the auxiliary amplifier of a Doherty amplifier.

摘要: In a semiconductor device such as a high-frequency power amplifier module, a plurality of amplifying means are formed on a semiconductor chip which is mounted on a main surface of a wiring substrate, and electrodes of the semiconductor chip are electrically connected by wires to electrodes of the wiring substrate. In order to make the high-frequency power amplifier module small in size, a substrate-side bonding electrode electrically connected to a wire set at a fixed reference electric potential is place at a location farther from a side of the semiconductor chip than a substrate-side output electrode electrically connected to an output wire. A substrate-side input electrode electrically connected to an input wire is located at a distance from the side of the semiconductor chip about equal to the distance from the side of the semiconductor chip to the substrate-side output electrode, or at a location farther from the side of the semiconductor chip than the substrate-side bonding electrode is.

摘要: This invention relates to a power amplifier for a mobile communication device. The power amplifier improves the efficiency and the linearity by controlling the input voltage of the peakin amplifier (130). The power amplifier operates at the Doherty mode when the output power from the voltage-control means (170) is in the low range. For the higher output power, the control input (80) to the peaking amplifier (130) is increased up to such a point for satisfying the non-linear property of the power amplifier.

摘要: The present invention relates to bias control of a power amplification circuit of a mobile device for improving the efficiency and the linearity properties of the power amplifier. In one embodiment, the power amplifier improves these properties by receiving a voltage control signal to bias a supplemental amplifier so that the power amplifier operates in a Doherty mode in a low output power range and in a non-Doherty mode in a high output power range. In the non-Doherty mode, the supplemental amplifier is biased as a class AB amplifier via the received voltage control signal to satisfy the non-linear operational requirements of the power amplifier in the high output power range. The power amplifier generates the voltage control signal based upon power levels of signals received from a remote base station.
