摘要: A biological sensing apparatus includes an optical waveguide substrate, a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) layer, and a lossy mode resonance (LMR) layer. The optical waveguide substrate includes a light input end and a light output end opposite to each other, and a biological sensing area is formed on one surface of the optical waveguide substrate between the light input end and the light output end. The SPR layer includes a metal layer and a plurality of biological probes. The metal layer is arranged on part of the biological sensing area, and the plurality of biological probes are evenly arranged on the metal layer. The LMR layer is arranged on part of the biological sensing area, and the LMR layer and the SPR layer are not overlapped. The present disclosure further includes a biological sensing system and a method of using the same.

摘要: A farming machine is configured to identify and treat plants in a field. The farming machine includes one or more light sensors for measuring a characteristic of light. The one or more light sensors are coupled to the farming machine and are directed a substantially upwards orientation away from the plants. A control system adjusts settings of an image acquisition system based on a characteristic of light measured by the one or more light sensors. The image acquisition system captures an image of a plant using one or more image sensors coupled to the farming machine, the one or more image sensors directed in a substantially downwards orientation towards the plants. The control system identifies a plant in the image and actuates a treatment mechanism to treat the identified plant.

摘要: The invention provides an optical measurement device for measuring light to be inspected. The optical measurement device comprises a light receiving module, a light splitting module, and a plurality of color filters. The light receiving module is used for converting the light to be inspected into a first parallel light. The light splitting module is used for splitting the first parallel light into a plurality of parallel lights to be inspected. Each color filter receives at least one of the plurality of parallel lights to be inspected. The plurality of parallel lights to be inspected filtered by the plurality of color filters are used to calculate tristimulus values in the CIE color space.

摘要: Building blocks are provided for on-chip chemical sensors and other highly-compact photonic integrated circuits combining interband or quantum cascade lasers and detectors with passive waveguides and other components integrated on a III-V or silicon. A MWIR or LWIR laser source is evanescently coupled into a passive extended or resonant-cavity waveguide that provides evanescent coupling to a sample gas (or liquid) for spectroscopic chemical sensing. In the case of an ICL, the uppermost layer of this passive waveguide has a relatively high index of refraction that enables it to form the core of the waveguide, while the ambient air, consisting of the sample gas, functions as the top cladding layer. A fraction of the propagating light beam is absorbed by the sample gas if it contains a chemical species having a fingerprint absorption feature within the spectral linewidth of the laser emission.

摘要: Provided is a method of evaluating electrode quality capable of simply and quickly filtering out defective electrodes by measuring a color coordinate value of electrodes before roll-pressing, which specifically includes: providing an electrode which includes a current collector and an active material layer formed on the current collector and has not been roll-pressed; measuring a color coordinate value of the active material layer using an optical instrument; and evaluating the electrode as a good product when the measured color coordinate value satisfies a predetermined electrode quality evaluation criterion and as defective when the measured color coordinate value does not satisfy the predetermined electrode quality evaluation criterion.

摘要: Reusable network of spatially-multiplexed microfliuidic channels each including an inlet, an outlet, and a cuvette in-between. Individual channels may operationally share a main or common output channel defining the network output and optionally leading to a disposable storage volume. Alternatively, multiple channels are structured to individually lead to the storage volume. An individual cuvette is dimensioned to substantially prevent the formation of air-bubbles during the fluid sample flow through the cuvette and, therefore, to be fully filled and fully emptied. The overall channel network is configured to spatially lock the fluidic sample by pressing such sample with a second fluid against a closed to substantially immobilize it to prevent drifting due to the change in ambient conditions during the measurement. Thereafter, the fluidic sample is flushed through the now-opened valve with continually-applied pressure of the second fluid. System and method for photometric measurements of multiple fluid samples employing such network of channels.
