A laminated gas sensor element extending in a longitudinal direction and having a detection part including a plate-shaped element body which has a heater layer having an embedded resistance heating body and a detection layer laminated to the heater layer and having a vertical surface along a lamination direction and a horizontal surface perpendicular to the lamination direction; and a porous protective layer coating the vertical surface and the horizontal surface of the element body constituting the detection part, wherein a thickness of the protective layer formed on the vertical surface is thicker than a thickness of the protective layer formed on the horizontal surface.

A connecting unit for establishing a connection with external connecting portions of an electronic device includes a base and a plurality of spiral contactors having a conductive layer and an auxiliary resilient layer. The top face, the bottom face, and both side faces of the conductive layer are completely surrounded by the auxiliary resilient layer. The conductive layer is composed of a material having a specific resistance lower than the specific resistance of the auxiliary resilient layer. The auxiliary resilient layer is composed of a material having a yield point and an elastic modulus higher than the yield point and the elastic modulus of the conductive layer.

A connector for connecting with an external terminal on an electronic component includes a spiral contact which is wound a plurality of turns. The spiral contact has a single projection that projects outwardly toward an outer circumference of the turns. When the spiral contact is in contact with the external terminal, the projection of the spiral contact comes into contact with the external terminal.

A supporting portion is provided only at a winding start portion side and an outside of the other part of a deforming portion other than the winding start portion side is opened. Thus, adjacent spiral contactors can be arranged to be close to each other. Therefore, a mounting density of a spiral contactor on a guide frame can be increased. Further, since the deforming portion can be arranged at an opened region, a width of the deforming portion can be widened. As a result, the spiral contactor having a large spring constant is provided.

A pin contact of a connector and a method of fabricating the pin contact which enables a substantial decrease of manufacturing cost, and smooth installation of the pin connector without a change in the pitch of arrangement at the time of press-fitting into a pin housing. A flat metal sheet undergoes blanking and pressing to form a narrow piece including a strip portion of decreased area of a fracture. Then an approximately L-shaped connecting portion is bent at right angles to raise the narrow piece sideways. Thereafter the strip portion of the narrow piece is pressed along the direction of rising, to thereby form an approximately cylindrical contact section. A raised piece at the rear of the contact section is provided with a locking section which faces approximately at right angles with the direction of arrangement.

A method of forming an optical article includes the step of applying a silicone composition to a surface, wherein the silicone composition is a solid and has a glass transition temperature greater than room temperature. The silicone composition is heated to a temperature at or above the glass transition temperature such that the silicone composition flows. The silicone composition forms a light transmitting sheet upon cooling following the heating.

[Objective] To provide a gas sensor having a solid electrolyte body in which an exposed portion thereof achieving a temperature lower than the temperature that burns off soot is covered with a glass coat so as to prevent deterioration in gas concentration detection performance of the gas sensor.[Means for Solution] A gas sensor is comprised of a gas sensor element; and an inner member surrounding the gas sensor element, wherein the gas sensor element has a detection element having therein a space to which a gas to be measured is introduced, and a heater laminated on the detection element and provided with a heat-generating portion, wherein the space is formed between a first solid electrolyte body and a second solid electrolyte body, wherein the detection element includes: a first oxygen pumping cell having therein a first solid electrolyte body and a pair of first pump electrodes and used for pumping oxygen in or out of the space; and an oxygen concentration detection cell having therein a second solid electrolyte, a detection electrode and a reference electrode, and used for controlling the first oxygen pumping cell, wherein, in side faces of the detection element along a laminating direction, a region from a front end of the inner member to at least apart of the detection electrode along a longitudinal direction of the detection element is covered with a glass coat having a glass transition point of over 700 degrees C.

When a predetermined high-frequency current is passed through the induction coil, electromagnetic induction causes the resistive layer to generate heat. Solder that forms the connection electrode is melt, and flows onto the tip portion of the elastic contact. Thus, the tip portion of the elastic contact and the connection electrode can be strongly bonded together at the contact portion that is a single point therebetween.
