Abstract:
In an air intake apparatus of an internal combustion engine, disassembling a surge tank made of resin with an intake air control valve into divided pieces, and bonding the divided pieces by vibration adhesion, for preventing the intake air control valve from breaking or characteristic thereof from changing during the vibration adhesion or for ensuring a sealing property between parts, an inner space in the surge tank is divided into first and second chambers by providing a horizontal partitioning wall within the surge tank. The surge tank is divided into a middle piece made of resin and formed integrally with the partitioning wall, a lower piece made of resin, and an upper piece also made of resin, and these three pieces are bonded by the vibration adhesion to form the surge tank. A communicating hole for making the first chamber communicate with the second chamber is formed in the partitioning wall, and a valve body for opening and closing the communication hole is provided in the communicating hole. A drive device for opening and closing the valve body is provided on the middle piece.

Abstract:
An air filter assembly has a fan, pre-filter, a main filter, and a control circuit which generates various signals to the user as to when the pre-filter and the main filter should be replaced. The control circuit detects when the pre-filter should be replaced from two conditions: a first pre-filter replacement condition based decreased air flow, and a second pre-filter replacement condition based on cumulative operating time. The control circuit detects when the main filter should be replaced based on a formula containing a number of the occurrences of the first pre-filter replacement condition and a number of occurrences of the second pre-filter replacement condition. The control circuit also detects a main filter replacement condition based on cumulative operating time of main filter. The main filter can have a fuse that is blown when the main filter should be replaced.
Abstract:
A reducing water purification material having a reducing iron-based precipitate selected from green rust, iron ferrite, reducing iron hydroxide, and a mixture thereof. A wastewater treatment process having steps of adding a reducing iron compound to wastewater, leading the wastewater to which the reducing iron compound is added to a reaction tank and forming a precipitate, separating the formed precipitate by a solid-liquid separation to obtain a sludge, and alkalinizing all or a portion of the separated sludge to form an alkaline sludge followed by returning to the reaction tank, wherein in the precipitation step, the wastewater to which the reducing iron compound is added and the alkaline sludge are mixed and are allowed to react in a non-oxidizing atmosphere under alkaline condition to form a reducing iron compound precipitate as the precipitate, thereby incorporating contaminants in the precipitate to remove the contaminants from the wastewater.

Abstract:
On an optical disc including a substrate on which pits having at least two different depths are formed, main information is recorded by the shape of the pits and additional information is recorded by the depth of the pit. It is possible to reverse polarity of a tangential push-pull signal dependent on the depth of the pit, and therefore it becomes possible to record information utilizing the depth of the pit. This improves recording density of the optical disc. Further, when information of the optical disc is to be copied, the information recorded by the depth of the pit cannot be copied. Therefore, unauthorized reproduction can be prevented.

An optical recording medium capable of obtaining a large reproduced signal from the recoded mark, a large reproduced signal of a pre-pit and a large tracking signal both in an area of the grooves and an area of the pre-pits, which provides a sufficient time allowance for switching tracking to that suitable for the area of the grooves or to that suitable for the area of the pre-pits. An optical recording medium comprising a substrate whereon tracks each comprising at least of writable grooves and pre-pits deeper than or equal to the grooves are formed and areas of a relatively shallow pits are each provided between an area of the deep pits and an area of the grooves. The depth Dg of the grooves, the depth Dsp of the shallow pits and the depth Ddp of the deep pits satisfy the following conditions: Dg

Abstract:
In a multi-track magnetic signal reproducing apparatus, a plurality of MR heads including MR (Magneto Resistance Effect) elements are provided correspondingly to tracks on a magnetic tape. At the time of reproduction, constant current from a constant current power supply is sequentially supplied as pulse-shaped current for detecting a signal to each MR element by a switching operation by switch in response to a prescribed clock signal, and output voltage from each MR element related to reproduction of a magnetic signal on a corresponding track is sequentially provided to one input side of a differential amplifier. In differential amplifier, the offset voltage of each MR element provided to the other input side and the above-described output voltage are differentially amplified and only voltage due to the reproducing magnetic signal of each track is accurately extracted. Accordingly, the supply of pulse-shaped current effectively suppresses increase in the amount of consumption current regardless of the number of tracks on the tape (or the number of heads), and since amplifier is shared between the tracks, the number of necessary terminals for such a multi-track MR head is reduced.
