    摘要: A gallium nitride group compound semiconductor laser diode includes at least one pn junction layer disposed between an n-type layer and a p-type layer. The n-type layer is formed from a gallium nitride group compound semiconductor material defined by the composition equation (Al.sub.x Ga.sub.1-x).sub.y In.sub.1-y N (where 0.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.1 and 0.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.1). The p-type layer, doped with an acceptor impurity, is obtained by electron beam irradiating a gallium nitride group compound semiconductor material defined by the composition equation (Al.sub.x' Ga.sub.1-x').sub.y' In.sub.1-y' N (where 0.ltoreq.x'.ltoreq.1, 0.ltoreq.y'.ltoreq.1, x=x' or x.noteq.x', and, y=y' or y.noteq.y'). The improved gallium nitride group semiconductor laser diode of the present invention is found to emit light in the visible short wavelength spectrum of light which includes the blue, violet and ultraviolet regions.

    摘要: Using nature that a pixel value in a lung of a chest X-ray moving image varies due to heart beat, the variation information on the pixel value is effectively used for diagnosis such as of a lung embolism or a heart disease, considering the variation information as lung blood flow information. A continuous X-ray image screening examination device receives a chest X-ray moving image from an X-ray detector and receives an electrocardiogram to become original information on a heart beat variation from an electrocardiogram recording apparatus. From the dynamic state of the heart wall measured by the electrocardiograph or the chest X-ray moving image, the heart dynamic state during the cardiac chamber systolic and diastolic phases is grasped, and information such as the variation of the pixel value of the chest X-ray moving image due to increase (lung blood flow increase) of the blood flow from the heart to the lung during the cardiac chamber systolic phase is generated.

    摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus and a method for forming an alignment layer to align the orientation direction of liquid crystals. In an apparatus 10 for forming an alignment layer according to the present invention, the shape of an edge 32a of a mask 12 for forming a slit 14 is determined by integrating the orientation direction of liquid crystals. The liquid crystals can be uniformly oriented by the edge 32a having such shape. This leads to the manufacturing of a liquid crystal display free from irregularity in brightness and color.

    摘要: An apparatus for measuring the color of a brilliant-cut diamond, comprising a light source for providing a measuring light, a holder for holding the diamond to allow the measuring light to enter the diamond through a table facet thereof, a photodetector for detecting a light which has emerged from the diamond through its table facet, a measurement unit for measuring a spectrum of the detected light and an arithmetic unit for deriving tristimulus values from the spectrum.The apparatus is of great practical advantage in that it can objectively measure the colors of brilliant-cut diamonds, and can produce measured outputs which can easily be converted to color grades of the type which has widely been used conventionally.
