    摘要: A stubless optoelectronic device receptacle for connecting multifiber optical ribbon cables to optoelectronic semiconductor components is provided. The optoelectronic device receptacle consists of a receptacle alignment block portion contained in the receptacle body. The alignment block has a connector coupling surface for engaging the fiber optic ribbon connector. An optoelectronic semiconductor component is fixedly mounted to the connector coupling surface of the alignment block and a flexible circuit is then mounted to the electronic semiconductor component to provide power to the component. In the preferred embodiment, the alignment block contains mechanical features which perform precision alignment of the block to a connector attached to the fiber ribbon cable.

The rigid member may be intermeshed with the flexible member at a desired location in a releasable engagement, forming the electrical connections, while allowing for subsequent release and reconnection without stripping, damaging or penetrating the electrically conductive elements of the flexible member.

    摘要: Insulated sheet material useful for making bonded electrical connections, especially to sets of small side-by-side terminal pads. In one typical form, the sheet material is an elongated tape comprising an elongated insulating web; a plurality of narrow spaced parallel elongated electrically conductive stripes on the web; electrically conductive adhesive disposed over the stripes comprising a layer of adhesive material in which are dispersed a monolayer of rather thick electrically conductive particles; and a thin electrically insulating layer disposed over the conductive adhesive and which is nontacky or poorly tacky at room temperature, provides high electrical resistance throughout the layer to the conductive particles, softens to an adhesive and flowable condition upon heating to an elevated temperature, and upon cooling to room temperature assumes a firm and substantially nonflowable condition. Such a connector tape is readily handleable and free from conductive bonding at room temperature but when laid over a set of adjacent spaced terminal pads with the electrically conductive stripes in registry with the pads, and pressed and heated, the conductive particles penetrate through the insulating layer to make electrical connection to the pads.

    摘要: A conducting structure includes a dielectric matrix with a first surface and a second surface. At least one via extends from the first surface of the matrix to the second surface of the matrix. In the at least one via conductive members are formed which include conductive elements and an optional binder. The conductive elements have a maximum dimension of: (i) at least about 5% of a length of the via, and, (ii) at least about 10% of the width of the via. The size, shape and number of conductive elements in each via, as well as the composition of the binder, may be selected to provide a conductive element with a controlled electrical and/or thermal conductivity, and a controlled modulus, for a particular application.

    摘要: Two electronic components having fine pitch arrays of terminals can be disconnectably interconnected by a multiple electrical connector that includes a pair of intermeshable members. Each of those members has an electrically insulative body with a structured surface including a plurality of tapered elements. Tapered sides of those elements fit flush against each other when the two members intermesh, and the members become strongly adhered to each other when the tangent of the half angle of said tapered sides is no greater than the coefficient of friction of the material of the contacting surfaces. Each of the members has a plurality of electrically conductive segments in position to make good electrical contact when the members intermesh.
