摘要: A catheter for use in magnetic resonance imaging includes a catheter shaft having a proximal end and a distal end. A flexible lumen is supported on the distal end of the shaft, and the flexible lumen is configured to be expanded and contracted using a fluid introduced via the proximal end of the catheter shaft. A magnetic resonance coil formed on the flexible lumen such that the magnetic resonance coil may expand and contract with the flexible lumen. The magnetic resonance coil is coupled to an external match and tune circuit via magnetic resonance imaging device. The balloon coil includes nested bazooka or sleeve baluns along the length of the cable to minimize common mode currents on the outer surface of the cable to prevent high current hot spots that cause heating of the cable.

摘要: An mucosal impedance (“MI”) device may include or utilize a retaining member sized to retain a tines structure including N tines, each provided with one or more impedance electrodes on each tine. The retaining member may mechanically deform the tines such that they fit inside it. The tines, made of spring like material, may be chosen, for example, for their elastic modulus and yield strength. The tines may be pre-conditioned with a shape that provides a spring tension force in the radial outward direction. When the retaining member or is retracted to release and expose the tines and impedance electrodes, the preconditioned shape and elasticity of the tines cause the tines to expand radially outward, providing an appropriate contact force of the impedance electrodes on the inner wall of the esophagus for a range of esophageal diameters.

摘要: An esophageal device is used to recognize, diagnose, characterize, or relieve an impact of an abnormal or defective UES anatomy, physiology, or functionality. In one implementation, the esophageal device measures a UES response to esophageal fluid infusion to detect or characterize an abnormality or defective UES anatomy, physiology, or functionality. An Upper Esophageal Sphincter compression device is used to increase intra-luminal pressure within the Upper Esophageal Sphincter of a patient in order relieve an impact of an abnormal or defective UES anatomy, physiology, or functionality.

摘要: An esophageal introducer is provided which facilitates the passage of medical probes into the esophagus or gastric cavity. It consists of an introduced tube 12 made of collapsible elastomeric material 21 with a flexible laminated steel at the bottom 20. The proximal opening is attached to a bite block 10. The distal end continues with an extension of the laminated steel 20a that tapers to a tip with a 45 degree bend 16. This extension is covered with elastomeric material 21a that overlaps the distal tip creating a flat soft end 19. Prior to insertion the introducer body is bended 20-30 degrees 17, the tip is advanced till it makes contact with the posterior pharyngeal wall FIG. 3a. Further pressure will advance the tip effortlessly, sliding on the posterior esophageal wall that is an anatomic continuation of the posterior pharyngeal wall. FIG. 3b, 3c.

摘要: The present invention is an esophageal stethoscope with a temperature sensor and earpiece. An esophageal stethoscope has a tube with a first end and a second end, where a sound-transmitting hydrophobic cuff covers the first end of the tube. The first end of the tube has a plurality of lateral openings and a thermistor extending from the first end but within the cuff. The second end of the tube is attached to a connector and has a temperature sensor sub-assembly that extends out of the second end and is connected to the thermistor. A monoscope tube is attached to the connector at a first end and has a memory foam earpiece at a second end. The monoscope tube also preferably has a clip near the earpiece. To facilitate sound transmission, monoscope tubes of different ID sizes are used.
