摘要:
The present invention provides a biodegradable article formed from enzyme-synthesized amylose using phosphorylase, wherein the enzyme-synthesized amylose is composed of glucose monomers exclusively bonded by α-1,4-glucosidic likage and has a weight average molecular weight of not less than 100 kDa, preferable not less than 600 kDa. The enzyme-synthesized amylose employed in the present invention has a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of not more than 1.25 and can be chemically modified if desired. The biodegradable article of the present invention can be produced by (a) the enzyme-synthesized amylose and/or its modified one, or a combination of the amylose (a) and another polymer material (b).

A biodegradable polymer includes a) 20 to 60% of a mixture of starch and/or a modified starch, b) 8 to 22% of starch plasticisers and processing agents c) 30 to 70% of one or more biodegradable aliphatic polyesters d) 1 to 10% of a layered silicate clay mineral. The silicate mineral is an organoclay which has been formed by reacting clay with an intercalating chemical to compatibilise it with the polymers so that the clay is exfoliated and makes the blend amorphous. The polymers may also include the usual additives including e) from 0 to 20% by weight of a polyol plasticiser f) from 0.1 to 1.5% by weight of a C12-22 fatty acid or salt or a destructing agent preferably urea and/or urea derivatives, and g) from 0 to 12% by weight of added water. The polyester may be modified by reaction with maleic anhydride.

A roofing membrane which exhibits improved properties, particularly reduced propensity to blister, is produced by selecting a the group consisting of straight run asphalts with a rod & ball softening point in the range of from 80 to 130 degrees F.; oxidized asphalts, solvent washed asphalts, road tars, refined tars, and blends thereof; selecting a modifying polymer from a group consisting of: styrene-butadiene-styrene (nullSBSnull) block co-polymer, atactic polypropylene (nullAPPnull), and a combination of SBS and APP; modifying the bitumen by adding the polymer while the bitumen is in a molten state in a sealed mixing vessel; exposing the modified bitumen to a pressure less than ambient during or after modification while still in a molten state to allow release of entrained gases; and forming the roofing membrane from the molten modified bitumen.

Therapeutic compositions and/or formulations are provided, comprising: at least one cross-linked protein matrix, wherein the at least one cross-linked protein matrix comprises at least one protein residue and at least one saccharide-containing residue, and methods of producing the same. The cross-linked protein matrix may be derived from cross-linking a full length or substantially full length protein, such as tropoelastin, elastin, albumin, collagen, collagen monomers, immunoglobulins, insulin, and/or derivatives or combinations thereof, with a saccharide containing cross-linking agent, such as a polysaccharide cross-linking agent derived from, for example, hyaluronic acid or a cellulose derivative. The therapeutic compositions may be administered topically or by injection. The present disclosure also provides methods, systems, and/or kits for the preparation and/or formulation of the compositions disclosed herein.

A halogenated polysaccharide is provided having a halogen content of from about 1.0 wt. % to about 85 wt. % based on the total weight of the halogenated polysaccharide and having an average chain length of at least 6 monosaccharides. Methods of halogenating a polysaccharide to form a halogenated polysaccharide are provided that can be performed in the presence or absence of a proton solvent. Compositions such as articles of manufacture containing a halogenated polysaccharide and methods of producing such articles are also provided. The article of manufacture can also include one or more additional polymers, for example, polyvinylchloride (PVC). The article of manufacture can be, for example, a flooring tile, flooring plank, or carpet. Halogenated polysaccharides and products containing the same are bio-based, environmentally sustainable replacements or complements to existing polymers and polymer products.

An object of the present invention is to provide a novel polysaccharide derivative used for a separating agent for optical isomers. The novel polysaccharide derivative contains a structure in which a hydrogen atom of a hydroxyl group or an amino group at 2-position in a structural unit of the polysaccharide is substituted with a monovalent group represented by the following general formula (1), and a hydrogen atom of a hydroxyl group or an amino group at 3-position in the structural unit is substituted with a monovalent group represented by the following general formula (2): R1—NH—CO— (1) R2—NH—CO— (2) where R1 and R2 represent substituted or unsubstituted aryl groups different from each other.

The present invention relates to thermoplastic compositions which are degradable and/or compostable, the method of preparation of the degradable and/or compostable compositions and use of the degradable and/or compostable compositions in a monofilament, shaped article or film, or may be used as a coating, e.g., of paper, to achieve a stronger article. These compositions have the advantage over existing biodegradable and compostable compositions by exhibiting a higher dimensional stability and comparatively low cost.
