摘要: An internal combustion engine with a regulating device, whereby a fuel-air mixture is burned in the internal combustion engine with a combustion air ratio controllable by the regulating device, whereby the regulating device comprises an emission control loop, which is designed to control the charge-air pressure as a substitute variable for the NOx emission by the actuators influencing the charge-air pressure via a functional relationship, such that, for each target power or actual power of the internal combustion engine, a charge-air pressure target value can be set, and whereby the internal combustion engine further comprises a variable valve train, by means of which an operating characteristic of at least one inlet valve can be varied, whereby the functional relationship takes into account the influence of an adjustment of the operating characteristic of the at least one inlet valve.

摘要: In various aspects, internal combustion engines, engine controllers and methods of controlling engines are described. The engine includes a camshaft and a two cylinder sets. Cylinders in the first are deactivatable and cylinders in the second set may be fired at high or low output levels. The air charge for each fired working cycle is set based on whether a high or low torque output is selected. In some implementations, the camshaft is axially shiftable between first and second positions. First cam lobes are configured to cause their associated cylinders to intake a large air charge during intake strokes that occur when the camshaft is in the first position. Second cam lobes for cylinders in the second set cause their associated cylinders to intake a smaller air charge when the camshaft is in the second position. Second cam lobes for cylinders in the first set deactivate their associated cylinders.

摘要: Systems and methods for reducing noise or vibration generated by an internal combustion engine are described. An engine controller is arranged to operate the working chambers of the engine in a cylinder output level modulation manner. A noise/vibration reduction unit actively control of a device that is not a part of the powertrain. The device is controlled in a feed forward manner to alter an NVH characteristic of the vehicle in a desired manner based at least in part on a characteristic of the cylinder output level modulation operation of the engine.

摘要: A system and method for detecting and mitigating automatic ignition in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine. The method includes providing a first sensor for sensing and determining a crank angle of a crankshaft of the engine. A second sensor is provided for detecting a change in an engine vibration frequency caused by Auto Ignition (AI). The engine vibration signal of the second sensor is processed into a knock intensity signal. The knock intensity signal is indicative of the cylinder pressure and is acquired when the crank angle is between a first predetermined crank angle and a second predetermined crank angle. At least one characteristic of the knock intensity signal is determined and the at least one characteristic of the knock intensity signal is compared to at least one predetermined characteristic threshold. If the at least one characteristic of the knock intensity signal is determined to exceed the at least one predetermined characteristic threshold, then at least one auto ignition mitigating action is performed to mitigate the auto ignition event.

摘要: An internal combustion engine comprising: a plurality of cylinders in which combustion chambers are provided, wherein an ignition device and/or a fuel introduction device is associated with each combustion chamber, wherein the combustion chambers are adapted for cyclic ignition of fuel, an open-loop or closed-loop control device for actuation or closed-loop control of the ignition devices and/or fuel introduction devices, and at least one measuring device for detecting a temperature which is characteristic for each cylinder, wherein the open-loop or closed-loop control device is adapted for actuation or closed-loop control of the ignition devices or the fuel introduction devices in dependence on the signals of the at least one measuring device so that no ignition takes place in at least one selected cylinder during at least one cycle and that an even temperature distribution over all cylinders is achieved.

The engine is operated in a skip fire manner such that selected skipped working cycles are skipped and selected active working cycles are fired to deliver a desired engine output. A particular level of torque output is selected for each of the fired working chambers. Various methods, arrangements and systems related to the above method are also described.

摘要: A system includes an internal combustion engine having a number of cylinders, with at least one of the cylinders plumbed to have a complete recycle of the exhaust gases from the cylinder. The system further includes the completely recycled cylinder having an EGR stroke cycle, and the non-recycled cylinders of the engine having an exhaust stroke cycle. The system includes the EGR stroke cycle being distinct from the exhaust stroke cycle. An amount and composition of the exhaust gases from the recycled cylinder are distinct from the amount and composition of the exhaust gases from the non-recycled cylinders, at least at certain operating conditions of the engine.

摘要: An ECU has an output-value obtaining portion, a preignition estimating portion and a valve-opening-time controller. The output-value obtaining portion obtains the output value of the knock sensor, which corresponds to an intensity of an engine knocking. A preignition estimating portion estimates that a preignition will be generated in an internal combustion engine, when the obtained output value is greater than or equal to the specified threshold. When the preignition estimating portion estimates that a preignition will be generated, the exhaust-valve timing control mechanism advances the opening time of the exhaust valve to suppress the preignition.

摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a plurality of cylinders, intake valves (31) provided respectively in the cylinders, and a variable valve mechanism (600) for changing a valve characteristic of the intake valves (31). A motor (210) drives the variable valve mechanism (600). A motor controller (150) controls the motor (210). The internal combustion engine can be operated in a cylinder deactivation mode for retaining the intake valves (31) of some of the cylinders in a valve closing state. When the internal combustion engine returns from the cylinder deactivation mode, the motor controller (150) executes overlap adjustment processing for controlling the valve characteristic such that valve opening periods of the intake valves (31) are not overlapped between the cylinders.
