Abstract:
According to a method for cavity enhanced microscopy, a sample is arranged on a sample carrier of an optical cavity, which is formed by a pair of opposing mirrors. A description defining a lateral motion of the sample during a predefined time interval and a variation of the cavity length during the time interval in a temporally synchronized manner is stored and an actuator system is triggered to move the sample carrier and/or at least one mirror of the pair of mirrors to effect the lateral motion of the sample with respect to the cavity and the variation of the cavity length according to the description. Light is introduced into the cavity and transmitted portions and/or reflected portions and/or scattered portions and/or emitted portions are detected to generate a sensor dataset.
Abstract:
An optical-resolution photoacoustic microscopy (OR-PAM) system for visualizing water content deep in biological tissue uses an all-fiber 1930-nm hybrid optical parametrically-oscillating emitter. The emitter includes a tunable laser source whose output is amplified by a first erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). The output of the first amplifier is modulated with a Mach-Zehnder amplitude modulator that receives an RF signal with a nanosecond pulse width and a multiple kilohertz repetition rate. A second EDFA further amplifies the signal and passes it to a fiber circulator that in turn delivers it to a 1950/1550 mm fiber wavelength-division-multiplexing coupler WDM. The coupler introduces the signal to a cavity that includes a spool of highly nonlinear fiber and a Thulium-doped fiber amplifier TDFA. From the TDFA the signal reaches a 50/50 fiber coupler that sends part to a second output TDFA and guides part back to the cavity through a port of the WDM.
Abstract:
In this sample observation device, a reference table in which an optimum light amount of planar light at a measurement sensitivity represented by the product of a light amount of the planar light and a scanning speed is set according to the scanning speed is referred to, and the scanning speed of a scanning unit and the optimum light amount of the planar light that is applied to a sample are determined on the basis of the measurement sensitivity selected by a user.
Abstract:
An apparatus for imaging a includes an light source for illuminating the sample simultaneously in a line focus or an array of foci; and a sensor for detecting photons emitted or scattered from the sample simultaneously in an array of fields of view. An array of sub-observation volumes in the sample, from which photons are emitted or scattered during imaging, is defined by the volumes in space where the line focus or array of foci from the light source overlap with the corresponding array of field of views of the sensor. A cylindrical sample holder holds the sample at a surface and is rotatably arranged such that at least a portion of the sample can be transported through at least one of the sub-observation volumes by rotating the sample holder. The apparatus can be used in a high-throughput method of imaging.

A magnet assisted stage system for scanning applications having a scanning table being moveable from a first position to a second position, a scanning actuator operably associated with the scanning table to move the scanning table along a scanning direction from the first position to the second position, and an actively variable magnetic spring system being operably augmented to the scanning table to exert a magnetic repulsion force upon the scanning table in the scanning direction.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods and devices for generating optical pulses in one or more waveguides using a spatially scanning light source. A detection system, methods of use thereof and kits for detecting a biologically active analyte molecule are also provided. The system includes a scanning light source, a substrate comprising a plurality of waveguides and a plurality of optical sensing sites in optical communication with one or more waveguide of the substrate, a detector that is coupled to and in optical communication with the substrate, and means for spatially translating a light beam emitted from said scanning light source such that the light beam is coupled to and in optical communication with the waveguides of the substrate at some point along its scanning path. The use of a scanning light source allows the coupling of light into the waveguides of the substrate in a simple and cost-effective manner.

Abstract:
A method and system for optically inspecting a manufactured part at a single inspection station having a measurement axis are provided. The system comprises a fixture assembly which includes a rotatable first fixturing component to support a part in a generally vertical orientation and a rotatable second fixturing component mating with and removably connected to the first fixturing component to transmit torque from the first fixturing component to the second fixturing component. The second fixturing component includes a device for holding the part in a generally horizontal orientation and to permit rotation of the horizontally held part about the measurement axis between first and second predetermined angular positions about the axis. The system also comprises an actuator assembly, a backside illumination assembly, a frontside illumination device, a lens and detector assembly and at least one processor to process electrical signals generated by the lens and detector assembly.
