摘要: A surface emitting laser element formed of a group III nitride semiconductor, comprising: a first clad layer of a first conductivity type; a first guide layer of the first conductivity type having a photonic crystal layer formed on the first clad layer including voids disposed having two-dimensional periodicity in a surface parallel to the layer and a first embedding layer formed on the photonic crystal layer; a second embedding layer formed on the first embedding layer by crystal growth; an active layer formed on the second embedding layer; a second guide layer formed on the active layer; and a second clad layer of a second conductivity type formed on the second guide layer, the second conductivity type being a conductivity type opposite to the first conductivity type. The first embedding layer has a surface including pits disposed at surface positions corresponding to the voids.

摘要: A device includes a first cladding layer, a waveguide laser, an absorption layer, and a second cladding layer. The absorption layer is constituted by an oversaturation absorption body such as graphene. Also, the absorption layer is provided between the active layer and the distributed Bragg reflection portion. The absorption layer is formed below a core forming an optical waveguide between the active layer and a distributed Bragg reflection portion.

摘要: The present invention is directed to wearable display technologies. More specifically, various embodiments of the present invention provide wearable augmented reality glasses incorporating projection display systems where one or more laser diodes are used as light source for illustrating images with optical delivery to the eye using transparent waveguides. In one set of embodiments, the present invention provides wearable augmented reality glasses incorporating projector systems that utilize transparent waveguides and blue and/or green laser fabricated using gallium nitride containing material. In another set of embodiments, the present invention provides wearable augmented reality glasses incorporating projection systems having digital lighting processing engines illuminated by blue and/or green laser devices with optical delivery to the eye using transparent waveguides. In one embodiment, the present invention provides wearable augmented reality glasses incorporating a 3D display system with optical delivery to the eye using transparent waveguides. There are other embodiments as well.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to a glass having a refractive index of at least 1.7 as well as the use of the glass as a cladding glass of a solid-state laser. The disclosure also relates to a laser component comprising a core of doped sapphire and a cladding glass being placed on said core. The cladding glass is arranged on said core such that light exiting from the core due to parasitic laser activity can enter the cladding glass and can be absorbed there. Thus, a laser component with improved efficiency is obtained. The present disclosure also relates to a method for producing the laser component.

Light from the laminated structure 20 is emitted to an outside via the first light reflecting layer 41 or the second light reflecting layer 42. The first light reflecting layer 41 has a structure in which at least two types of thin films 41A and 41B are alternately laminated to each other in plural numbers. A film thickness modulating layer 80 is provided between the laminated structure 20 and the first light reflecting layer 41.

摘要: In some implementations, a vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) device includes a substrate layer and a first set of epitaxial layers for a bottom-emitting VCSEL disposed on the substrate layer. The first set of epitaxial layers may include a first set of mirrors and at least one first active layer. The VCSEL device may include a second set of epitaxial layers for a top-emitting VCSEL disposed on the first set of epitaxial layers for the bottom-emitting VCSEL. The second set of epitaxial layers may include a second set of mirrors and at least one second active layer. The top-emitting VCSEL and the bottom-emitting VCSEL may be configured to emit light in opposite light emission directions.

摘要: A structure having first and second layers is disposed on a substrate. The second layer is disposed on the first layer, is compressively strained, and comprises the alloy including germanium and tin. The structure comprises first and second members spaced a distance from each other along a direction, a strip located between the first and second members and extending along an axis intersecting the direction, and arms connecting the first and second members to a first end of the strip. The first and second members, the strip and the arms comprise respective portions of the first and second layers. A portion of the first layer at the strip and arms is removed such that the strip and arms become suspended and the arms remain anchored to the first layer via the first and second members. Tensile strain is induced in the alloy via the arms. The alloy may perform lasing.
