Abstract:
A method for decreasing formation of one or more chemiexcitation-induced dark cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (dCPDs) in a cell or DNA molecule in a subject, who has been exposed to UV radiation, is provided. The method comprises administering to the subject an effective amount of a dCPD quencher within 8 hours after the exposure. The dCPD quencher is selected from the group consisting of ellagic acid, Porphyra Umbilicalis Extract (including Porphyra Umbilicalis Extract (and) Sodium Lactate (and) Lecithin), mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs) and synthetic analogues thereof, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Chrysanthemum Morifolium Leaf Extract, ferulic acid, fused-ring cyanoacrylates, curcumin, epigallocatechin gallate, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract (and) Acacia Catechu Wood Extract, sorbic acid, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Acacia Catechu Extract, dipicolinic acid, squalene, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, beta-carotene and combinations thereof. The dCPD quencher may be administered to the subject in the absence of UV radiation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition for oral administration, the use of the composition for prevention and treatment of mucositis, and the method of treating mucositis using this composition in patients before and after the systemic treatment.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for modulating HIF-2α to meditate of hypoxia signaling in satellite cells and applications thereof for improving skeletal muscle generation and repair are provided. For example, methods of enhancing, increasing, accelerating or/and otherwise improving skeletal muscle generation or regeneration in a subject in need thereof are disclosed. In some embodiments, the methods include administering the subject an effective amount of HIF-2α inhibitor. The HIF-2α inhibitor can be effective to, for example, increase muscle satellite cell proliferation, differentiation, or a combination thereof in a subject. Composition and methods for improving respiration, and reducing or preventing the development or progression of fibrosis are also provided. The disclosed compositions and methods are particularly useful for treating muscular dystrophies, myopathies, and other muscle-related diseases and disorders.
Abstract:
Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a molecular inhibitor of Npr1 are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods of treating, reducing, or preventing acute and/or chronic pruritus in a mammal comprising administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising a molecular inhibitor of Npr1.
Abstract:
Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a mixture of cannabinoids and terpenes and use thereof in the treatment of select disorders mediated by the Hedgehog (HH) signaling pathway are disclosed. In preferred embodiments, the components of the composition synergistically inhibit HH signaling such that they serve to treat cancer and ocular disorders associated with aberrant neovascularization (such as age-related macular degeneration). The cannabinoids to be used include phytocannabinoids (such as tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol), endogenous cannabinoids (such as the N-acylethanolamides), or synthetic cannabinoids. Preferred terpenes for use include those that naturally occur in Cannabis plants (such as pinene, limonene, linalool, and phytol).
Abstract:
The present invention provides diagnostic and prognostic methods for predicting the effectiveness of treatment of a cancer patient with a MAT2A inhibitor. Methods are provided for predicting the sensitivity of tumor cell growth to inhibition by a MAT2A inhibitor, comprising assessing whether the tumor cell is absent an MTAP gene whereby cells that are MTAP null are sensitive to inhibition by MAT2A inhibitors.
Abstract:
A nutritional supplement formulation is provided, which contains a wound healing substance for use in the pre- and/or post-treatment of tattooing, for use in improving the coloring and/or color saturation of the tattoo and/or for use in improving the skin appearance after tattooing.
Abstract:
Compounds useful for selectively eliminating senescent cells, compositions comprising same and uses thereof in treating diseases and disorders in which selective elimination of senescent cells is beneficial are provided. The compounds are selectively represented by the following Formulae (I) and (II); with the variables being as defined in the specification. Also provided is a screening assay for identifying compounds that selectively inhibit senescent cells.
