Abstract:
A method for forming a thermally conductive connection between a plurality of battery cells (2) and a temperature-regulating body (1) of a battery module (100), wherein, in a first method step, an adhesive (3) comprising at least one first component (31) and at least one second component (32) is applied to the temperature-regulating body (1) or to the plurality of battery cells (2), wherein a first proportion (41) of the at least one first component (31) and/or a second proportion (42) of the at least one second component (32) is changed during the application of the adhesive (3) over the temperature-regulating body (1) or the plurality of battery cells (2), wherein, in a second method step, the plurality of battery cells (2) is connected to the temperature-regulating body (1) in such a way that an inhomogeneous material bond is formed between the plurality of battery cells (2) and the temperature-regulating body (1).
Abstract:

Abstract:
Apparatus for splicing expiring and replenishing webs of a web material includes first and second spaced platens having respective facing inner surfaces defining a passageway for transit of the expiring web, where the platens are adapted for displacement toward and away from one another in a reciprocating manner. The first platen is adapted to engage an end of the replenishing web, while the second platen is adapted to engage and position the moving expiring web. Moving the platens together with their respective inner surfaces in close proximity to one another causes a cutting die on the first platen to sever the expiring web forming outfeeding and infeeding ends of the expiring web, and to attach the expiring web's outfeeding end to the replenishing web. Attached to the second platen in facing relation to the first platen and engaging the expiring web is an ironing pad to ensure firm contact and adhesion of expiring web to the replenishing web. During web splicing, the cutting die is transferred from the first platen to the second platen to free the replenishing web from the first platen, with the cutting die engaging and collecting or holding the expiring web's infeeding end.
Abstract:
A buttress assembly is configured to temporarily adhere to a wet surgical stapler end effector. The buttress assembly includes a buttress body and a humidity tolerant adhesive material. The humidity tolerant adhesive material is applied to at least one side of the buttress body. The humidity tolerant adhesive material is configured to hold the buttress body to an underside of an anvil or a deck of a staple cartridge for at least five minutes in an environment of 100% relative humidity at approximately 37° C.
Abstract:
A method for repairing an aircraft structure made of composite material which comprises a damaged zone having at least one bend. The method comprises the stacking of at least two sheets of composite material, which each have a thickness allowing manual deformation thereof, a first sheet being applied to the damaged zone and shaped manually so as to follow said at least one bend of the zone, a second sheet being applied to the first sheet and shaped manually so as to follow the shape of the first sheet thus shaped. The use of individual sheets makes it possible to bend them to the desired bend without tools and the resulting stack provides the desired rigidity.
Abstract:
The present invention includes methods and apparatus for testing tire performance using a laterally-contoured road wheel. Accordingly, particular embodiments of the machine include a wheel configured to rotate, the wheel having a tire operating surface configured to engage a tire during operation, the outer tire operating surface arranged along an annular side of the wheel and having a width extending laterally relative a circumferential direction of the wheel along a contoured path. The machine may further include a drive source configured to rotate the wheel and a tire mount configured to rotatably maintain a tire. The present invention also includes methods of forming a laterally-contoured tire operating surface for a road wheel.
Abstract:
An insert for load application and/or anchorage of various components into/onto a composite sandwich panel. The insert includes a rotationally symmetric inner insert ring, an outer insert ring, an insert connecting portion connecting the inner insert ring with the outer insert ring, and an insert trench provided between the outer insert ring and the inner insert ring.
Abstract:
An elongate hollow structure and method of constructing the hollow structure is described, the hollow structure including a radially inner portion and a radially outer portion merging together to form a tubular wall structure. The method includes providing the radially inner portion, assembling the radially outer portion about the radially inner portion, and radially expanding the inner portion. The outer portion comprises an outer layer of fiber reinforced composite construction surrounded by a flexible outer casing. A space is provided between the radially inner portion and flexible outer casing. The outer layer includes reinforcement and a binder. The flexible outer casing resists radial expansion of the reinforcement, subjecting it to radial compression. The radially expanding inner portion cooperates with the flexible outer casing to cause the volume of the space to progressively decrease, causing the binder to spread through the space between the radially inner portion and flexible outer casing.
Abstract:
Process for making golf ball having multi-layered cover having a very thin outermost cover layer comprising: providing first and second substantially hemispherical half shells comprising a thermoplastic composition; dispensing uncured liquid thermoset composition into a hemispherical cavity of first half shell; inserting first half of a core subassembly into hemispherical cavity and displacing an amount of the uncured liquid thermoset composition such that the uncured liquid thermoset composition forms an inner cover layer; dispensing the uncured liquid thermoset composition into hemispherical cavity of second half shell; inserting second half of core subassembly into hemispherical cavity of second half shell and displacing an amount of the uncured liquid thermoset composition such that the uncured liquid thermoset composition forms an inner cover layer and thereby mating the first and second half shells; curing thermoset inner cover layer; and forming dimples in the outer surfaces of mated first and second half shells.
