摘要: A ring laser includes a large-core rare-earth-doped fiber ring-connected with a free-space path having an electro-optic switch, output coupler, and intracavity band-pass filter to enforce lasing operation in narrow wavelength range. In some cavity-dumped modes, the laser is configured in a similar manner, except that an output coupler is omitted since the optical power is extracted from the laser cavity by the electro-optic switch itself. The same laser can be configured to operate in Q-switched and/or cavity-dumping modes as well as in hybrid modes (e.g., partial Q-switch, followed by cavity dumping, or even CW). In some embodiments, the laser can be used as, or inject laser light into, a regenerative solid-state amplifier, or a Raman laser, or can be also used to generate visible, ultra-violet, mid-infrared, and far-infrared (THz) radiation via nonlinear wavelength conversion processes. The various embodiments can use a power oscillator or seed-plus-amplifier MOPA configuration.

摘要: Quasi-parametric chirped-pulse amplifier comprising a signal path, a pump path, and an amplifier. A dedicated nonlinear crystal doped with rare-earth-ions is used which has strong absorption around the idler waveband. Both the chirped signal pulse and the pump pulse incident into the amplifier, where energy continuously transfers from the pump pulse to the signal pulse and a newly generated idler pulse. The energy of the generated idler pulse is continually absorbed by the rare-earth ions doped in the amplifier.

摘要: A fiber laser oscillator comprises an active fiber for providing a lasing light having a selected wavelength band, a saturable absorber assembly coupled to a first end of the active fiber, a pump source for providing a pump light having wavelengths except the selected wavelength band, an optical component coupled to the second end of the active fiber and the pump source. The optical component comprises a thin film filter for transmitting the lasing light for a first time and reflecting the pump light and a reflector for reflecting the lasing light transmitted for the first time through the thin film filter. The lasing light reflected by the reflector transmits through the thin film filter for a second time and overlaps with the pump light reflected by the thin film filter.

摘要: A laser ignition device capable of achieving stable ignition, preventing deterioration of a semiconductor laser element is provided, by suppressing the intensity of oscillated light leakage leaking towards semiconductor laser side from the laser resonator with a simple configuration. A laser ignition device 7 includes an excitation light source 1 emitting coherent excitation light LPMP, an optical element 2 transmitting excitation light LPMP, a laser resonator 3 oscillating oscillated light having high energy density by being irradiated with excitation light LPMP, and condensing means 6 condensing the oscillated light LPLS oscillated by the laser resonator 3. Moreover, the laser ignition device 7 is provided with a light-transmissive-reflective film 5 disposed between the excitation light source 1 and the laser resonator 3. The light-transmissive-reflective is film 5 permeating the excitation light LPMP having short wavelength and reflecting oscillated light leakage LLEAK having long wavelength.

摘要: The invention relates to a supercontinuum light source comprising a microstructured optical fiber and a pump light source. The microstructured optical fiber comprises a core and a cladding region surrounding the core, as well as a first fiber length section, a second fiber length section and an intermediate fiber length section between said first and second fiber length sections. The first fiber length section comprises a core with a first characteristic core diameter. The second fiber length section comprises a core with a second characteristic core diameter, smaller than said first characteristic core diameter, where said second characteristic core diameter is substantially constant along said second fiber length section. The intermediate length section of the optical fiber comprises a core which is tapered from said first characteristic core diameter to said second characteristic core diameter over a tapered length.

摘要: A laser utilizes a cavity design which allows the stable generation of high peak power pulses from mode-locked multi-mode fiber lasers, greatly extending the peak power limits of conventional mode-locked single-mode fiber lasers. Mode-locking may be induced by insertion of a saturable absorber into the cavity and by inserting one or more mode-filters to ensure the oscillation of the fundamental mode in the multi-mode fiber. The probability of damage of the absorber may be minimized by the insertion of an additional semiconductor optical power limiter into the cavity.
