Abstract: A resin composition which exhibits good sealability while keeping creep deformation to a minimum when brought into sliding contact with a mating member at a high contact pressure of over 10 MPa, and which will not damage a mating member made from an aluminum alloy while sliding in contact with lubricating oil. The resin composition is a pressure-resistant, sliding tetrafluoroethylene resin composition containing 100 parts by volume of a modified tetrafluoroethylene resin in the form of a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and partially modified tetrafluoroethylene, 5-40 parts by volume of carbon fiber, and 2-30 parts by volume of calcium sulfate whiskers having a Mohs hardness of 4 or less, and having, at 100° C., a maximum deformation rate in 24 hours, of 15% or less. A seal device to be brought into slide contact with an aluminum metal is molded from such a pressure-resistant, sliding tetrafluoroethylene resin composition.

Abstract: A stainless steel wire is plated with nickel (Ni) to a thickness of from not less than 1 .mu.m to not more than 5 .mu.m. An inorganic salt coat film mainly composed of at least one of potassium sulfate and borax (borate) and free from fluorine (F) or chlorine (Cl) is then deposited on the nickel (Ni) plate 2 as the substrate. The steel wire is then drawn to a reduction of area of not less than 60% to adjust the surface roughness thereof to a range of from 0.80 to 12.5 .mu.mRz, preferably from 1.0 to 10.0 .mu.mRz.

F. to retain a low coefficient of friction in an oil starved environment.

Abstract: A light-duty, multi-purpose lubricant particularly formulated for use on the, diverse bearing surfaces mechanisms which operate in a dirty or dusty environment, such as bicycle chains. The lubricant comprises an insoluble soap, preferably Calcium Stearate in suspension in a volatile solvent-based solution of paraffin wax, petrolatum and a surfactant. After application and evaporation of the solvent the composite dry lubricant exhibits good penetration and load bearing properties without the dirt-retaining character of greases. The optional surfactant is surrounded and deactivated by the other components so that the dried lubricant is water repelling. The undissolved particles of soap combine with dirt particles to break-down portions of the lubricant into a dry flaky dust which is sloughed off the mechanism. Soluble waxes having different solid phase crystalline structures may be blended with the paraffin to reduce the rate of sloughing. The amount of solvent may be adjusted or eliminated depending on the application.

Abstract: The present invention provides lubricant compositions for the powder metallurgical field. The lubricant compositions contain a solid phase lubricant such as graphite, molybdenum disulfide, and polytetrafluoroethylene in combination with a liquid phase lubricant that is a binder for the solid phase lubricant. The binder can be chosen from various classes of compounds including polyethylene glycols, polyethylene glycol esters, partial esters of C.sub.3-6 polyhydric alcohols, polyvinyl esters, and polyvinyl pyrrolidones. The binder is solubilized in an organic solvent.

Abstract: A method for lubricating a ceramic bearing surface which comprises applying a cesium-containing compound selected from the group consisting of Cs.sub.2 MoO.sub.4, Cs.sub.2 SO.sub.4, Cs.sub.2 WO.sub.4, Cs.sub.2 WOS.sub.3, Cs.sub.2 MoOS.sub.3 and CsOH, to the bearing surface and heating the thus-coated bearing surface to a temperature of about 300.degree. C. or greater. Alternatively, the cesium-containing compound may be applied in admixture with a lower alkali metal silicate. This method is particularly useful for lubricating the bearings in expendable, high temperature turbine engines, such as those used in expendable missiles.
