Abstract:
A gas-barrier packaging material including: a support; an adhesive layer laminated on the support; a first barrier layer laminated on the adhesive layer; a second barrier layer laminated on the first barrier layer; and a protective layer formed of a coating liquid that contains a polyvalent metal compound, a polyester based resin, and a dispersant that is a sodium salt of a polycarboxylic acid based resin, the protective layer being laminated on the second barrier layer. In the gas-barrier packaging material, the protective layer contains the polyvalent metal compound by about 40 to 90 wt % relative to 100 wt % of the protective layer. When the second barrier layer is separated and an infrared absorption spectrum of the second barrier layer after separation is measured by a transmission method, a ratio between a maximum peak height α in a range of about 1,490 to about 1,659 cm−1 and a maximum peak height β in a range of about 1,660 to about 1,750 cm−1 as expressed by α/β is less than about one.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides three-dimensional structures and related methods. The three-dimensional structures may define patterns of positive and negative spaces on opposing surfaces that combine to form the three-dimensional structures. The negative spaces of the patterns may intersect to form apertures through the three-dimensional structures, which may define linear or non-linear paths therethrough. The apertures may be configured to provide desirable characteristics with respect to light, sound, and fluid travel therethrough. Further, the three-dimensional structures may be configured to define desired stiffness, weight, and/or flexibility. The three-dimensional structures may be employed in embodiments including heat sinks, housings, speaker or vent covers, springs, etc.
Abstract:
A method of producing a gas-barrier laminated member having a gas-barrier layer formed by crosslinking the carboxyl groups of a polycarboxylic acid polymer with multivalent metal ions. The method comprises forming a layer (A) containing an alkaline compound of a multivalent metal on at least one surface of a plastic base material, applying a solution (b) obtained by dissolving a polycarboxylic acid polymer in a solvent containing at least water onto the layer (A) that contains the alkaline compound of the multivalent metal, and removing the solvent by a heat treatment so that a metal-ionically crosslinked structure is formed with the multivalent metal ions among the carboxyl groups in the solution (b). The gas-barrier laminated member has excellent adhesion to the base material, gas-barrier property, retort resistance and flexibility, and is efficiently produced by only being heated at a low temperature for a short period of time through a decreased number of simplified steps.
Abstract:
Methods for treating a fibrous substrate are provided via positioning a treatment sheet adjacent to the fibrous substrate and positioning a heat treatment device onto the treatment sheet. The treatment sheet comprises a base sheet saturated with a treatment composition. The heat treatment sheet comprises a board formed and a flexible pad attached to the board, with the flexible pad comprises a conformable surface. Then, the method includes: pressing the board of the heat treatment device with the hot press member such that the conformable surface of the flexible pad presses onto the treatment sheet to transfer the treatment composition from the treatment sheet to the fibrous substrate using a wetting solution to carry the salt from the treatment sheet into the fibrous substrate; removing the heat treatment device and the treatment sheet from the fibrous substrate; and drying the fibrous substrate with the hot press member.

Abstract:
An apparatus and a method are provided for an air filter cleaning wand for flushing contaminants from an intake air filter of an automobile engine. The air filter cleaning wand comprises a proximal flange, a conduit, and a distal end portion. The proximal flange is configured to receive a nozzle of a water hose. An interior of the conduit is in fluid communication with the proximal flange. The distal end portion comprises a plurality of longitudinally aligned vents in fluid communication with the interior of the conduit. Upon passing water through the water hose and into the conduit, pressurized water streams exit the vents along the distal end portion so as to flush contaminants from the air filter. The air filter cleaning wand advantageously is comprised of a material which is sufficiently durable and temperature resistant to retain its configuration during operation when coupled to pressurized water sources.
