Abstract:
A coating composition which exhibits lubricating and corrosion resistance properties and is particularly suitable for coating bolts and fasteners. The composition comprises 5 to 20 parts by weight of zinc metal, 1 to 20 parts by weight of zinc oxide and 10 to 40 parts by weight molybdenum sulfide dispersed in a resin and solvent carrier such as methylated spirit and a phenolic resin.
Abstract:
A composition and method of preparation are herein described for molten release and parting compositions adaptable for use in glass-forming operations. The novel composition comprises an aqueous dispersion of a mixture of a solid lubricant, a water-soluble silicate binder, a setting agent, and a water-soluble phosphate. A preferred composition comprises a mixture of flake graphite, boron nitride, sodium silicate, zinc oxide and potassium phosphate tribasic.
Abstract:
A surface treatment composition for metal working which comprises 20 to 50 parts by weight of a mixture of a chlorine-containing thermoplastic synthetic resin or chlorine-containing rubber having a molecular weight of 8000 to 10000 and a chlorine-containing thermoplastic synthetic resin or chlorine-containing rubber having a molecular weight of 17000 to 19000, 2 to 15 parts by weight of a plasticizer and 2 to 20 parts by weight of a wax having 30 to 80 carbon atoms and melting at 60.degree. to 120.degree.C.
Abstract:
An improved method of transmitting power in a hydraulically operated mechanism which comprises adding to the operative liquid a certain amount of a tertiary diamide having the following structural formula: ##EQU1## wherein ##EQU2## and wherein R R H, alkyl radical having C.sub.1 -C.sub.5m = 2-8x = 1-5The tertiary diamide imparts to the liquid the property of swelling seals in the mechanical system and thereby prevents leakage.
Abstract:
A mold release composition comprising an aminofunctional silicon fluid, an organopolysiloxane fluid, a polyglycol and a filler. The composition is useful as a mold release agent, especially in manufacturing of tires.
Abstract:
A water-dispersible lubricant containing a mixture of molybdenum disulphide and graphite particles in a carboxymethylcellulose/amine-functional silane binder system is especially useful in metal working operations. Metal substrates coated with the lubricant compositions are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Composition for forming lubricant coating, particularly useful in processes for working of sheet metals, comprising a resin capable of forming a layer adhering to the surface, and an oil for forming an upper layer to enhance the lubricating properties on top of and/or partially distributed within the resin layer; and a method of applying both layers of the coating to the metal surface simultaneously from a single aqueous dispersion or emulsion composition. The coating has been found to greatly increase the ability of the metal sheet to withstand severe fabrication processes, such as deep-drawing, without tearing or galling, compared with ordinary lubricating oils or greases.
Abstract:
An aqueous release composition comprising a silicone emulsion, lubricant and a filler. The composition is useful as a release agent, especially in the manufacturing of tires.
Abstract:
The addition of a small amount of an alkyl sulfenyl N,N-dialkyl dithiocarbamate to lubricating oils, gear oils, greases, and the like improves the various properties thereof including the higher pressure properties, the stability of the so-treated lubricants against oxidation and rust, as well as antiwear properties, antiscuffing properties, and the like.
