    Abstract: A mounting device for mounting a sample separation unit configured for separating, preferably chromatographically separating, compounds in a fluidic sample includes a first fluid connector configured for being mechanically and fluidically coupled with a first fluid interface of the sample separation unit, a second fluid connector configured for being mechanically and fluidically coupled with a second fluid interface of the sample separation unit, and a swivel mechanism configured for swivelling the first fluid connector between a mounting orientation for mounting the first fluid interface of the sample separation unit at the first fluid connector and an alignment orientation for aligning the second fluid interface of the mounted sample separation unit with the second fluid connector for subsequently coupling the second fluid interface with the second fluid connector.

    Abstract: In some examples, an ion funnel-based collision cell may include an ion funnel entrance section formed by a plurality of adjacently disposed entrance members. Each entrance member of at least one pair of the adjacently disposed entrance members may include a successively larger opening to form a tapered or profiled entrance for ions entering the ion funnel-based collision cell. An insulation material may be disposed adjacent to or in contact with each entrance member of the at least one pair of the adjacently disposed entrance members to prevent, outside of each successively larger opening, flow of gas between each entrance member of the at least one pair of the adjacently disposed entrance members.

    Abstract: A degasser for degassing a mobile phase includes a degasser chamber with a degasser volume for receiving a degassing membrane, a delimiting unit for delimiting a first space of the degasser volume with respect to a second space of the degasser volume while maintaining a fluid connection between the first space and the second space. The first space in an operation in an environment of the degassing membrane includes a higher partial pressure of vapor of the mobile phase than the second space with a lower partial pressure of vapor of the mobile phase. The degasser further includes a suction unit for sucking a gas that passed through the degassing membrane from the second space, and/or an associated gas supply unit for supplying an associated gas in the second space or in a fluid conduit that is connected to the second space.

    Abstract: The invention provides an optical coupling, comprising: a first coupling portion and a second coupling portion, the first and second coupling portions configured to mate in kinematic constraint via a first mounting interface and at least two further mounting interfaces, wherein: the first coupling portion comprises a first mounting element and the second coupling portion comprises a socket, and the first mounting element is receivable in the socket at the first mounting interface such that the first mounting interface constrains lateral displacements of the first coupling portion relative to the second coupling portion when mated; and at least one optical channel for transmitting abeam of light along an optical axis through the optical coupling, the optical channel comprising complementary light-transmitting ports in the first and second coupling portions, wherein the optical axis is not laterally removed from the first mounting interface by more than half the distance between the first mounting interface and the nearest of the further mounting interfaces.
