Abstract:
A micro-reflectron for a time-of-flight mass spectrometer including a substrate and integrated with the volume of the substrate, means for application of a potential gradient in a volume suitable for constituting a flight zone of the ions. The means of application includes at least two polarization electrodes and a wall of at least one resistive material that can be polarized between these electrodes so as to generate a continuous potential gradient, itself providing the function of reflectron, this flight zone, these electrodes and this wall being obtained by the technology of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and this micro-reflectron having a thickness of less than 5 millimetres while its other dimensions are less than 10 times this thickness.
Abstract:
A method for hydrophilizing surfaces of a printhead assembly includes decontaminating the printhead assembly; plasma activating the surfaces of the printhead assembly; treating the surfaces of the printhead assembly with a treatment solution; drying the printhead assembly; baking the printhead assembly; and performing a print quality and electrical test on the printhead assembly. The step of decontaminating the printhead assembly is performed before the step of plasma activating the surfaces of the printhead assembly.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a polyester film comprising, on at least one of the faces thereof, a scratch-resistant crosslinked coating. The objective of the invention is to provide a polyester film coated with an abrasion-resistant layer which adheres perfectly to the polyester substrate, and is simple and economical to manufacture. To achieve this objective, the crosslinked hard coating applied to the polyester film comprises: i. 20% to 99% by weight of at least one ester and/or one amide of (meth)acrylic acid comprising a substituted protic group; ii. 20% to 99% by weight of acrylic resin(s); iii. 1% to 40% of a polyalkylene diacrylate; iv. 0 to 50% of at least one derivative of the benzophenone family; v. 0 to 5% of at least one photoinitiator. The invention also relates to the method for obtaining this polyester film coated with an abrasion-resistant hard layer. Use in the production of polyester/metal sheet (steel) colaminate.
Abstract:
A device for forming a self-assembled film on a substrate containing a film precursor includes a first heating member and a second heating member disposed adjacent to the first heating member, the second heating member being separated from the first heating member by a gap. The device includes a movable pusher member configured for advancing the substrate from the first heating member to the second heating member.
Abstract:
A cleaning material is disposed over a substrate. The cleaning material includes solid components dispersed within a liquid medium. A force is applied to the solid components within the liquid medium to bring the solid components within proximity to contaminants present on the substrate. The force applied to the solid components can be exerted by an immiscible component within the liquid medium. When the solid components are brought within sufficient proximity to the contaminants, an interaction is established between the solid components and the contaminants. Then, the solid components are moved away from the substrate such that the contaminants having interacted with the solid components are removed from the substrate.
Abstract:
A method for applying a water-based coating (53) to a painted workpiece (49) is provided. The method includes spraying water (51) from an application nozzle unit (10) to the workpiece (49), feeding the water-based coating (53) to the workpiece (49), and finally applying streams of compressed air onto the water-based coating (53) to spread uniformly the water-based coating (53).
Abstract:
The drying time for aqueous asphalt emulsions used in the roofing and other waterproofing industries is shortened by separately applying an emulsion breaking agent to the substrate to be waterproofed, to the aqueous asphalt emulsion after it is applied, or both.
Abstract:
A method of treating pipes to render the inner wall of the pipes resistant to corrosion and pre-mature deterioration. For new pipes, the inner wall is cleansed with a solvent, debris removed, and the inner wall dried. The inner wall is then coated with a corrosion-resistant primer and allowed to dry. The last step is to coat the inner wall with a corrosion- and chemical-resistant topcoat. More than one coat of primer and topcoat may be applied. The pipe may be re-treated by pumping a stripper through the inner wall removing all coating followed by cleansing and re-coating as described above.
Abstract:
Continuous coatings including floor finishes can be prepared using novel two part compositions and methods. The two part compositions comprise a solid particulate polymer part and a liquid coalescing agent part. A novel method of the invention involves contacting the coalescing agent with the polymer in a variety of coating methods including applying the polymer to the coalescing agent, applying the coalescing agent to the polymer or applying the coalescing agent and polymer simultaneously. The polymer and coalescing agent interact to form a continuous coating layer or finish layer.
