摘要: A heater is provided having at least one thermally sprayed resistive heating layer, the resistive heating layer comprising a first metallic component that is electrically conductive and capable of reacting with a gas to form one or more carbide, oxide, nitride, and boride derivative; one or more oxide, nitride, carbide, and boride derivative of the first metallic component that is electrically insulating; and a third component capable of stabilizing the resistivity of the resistive heating layer. In some embodiments, the third component is capable of pinning the grain boundaries of the first metallic component deposited in the resistive heating layer and/or altering the structure of aluminum oxide grains deposited in the resistive heating layer.

摘要: A heatable roller suitable for a machine for producing and/or upgrading a web of material, in particular a fibrous material web such as a paper, paperboard or tissue web. The roller has a main element with a metallic and cylindrical roller wall which is heatable by suitable means and on the radially outer side of which there is, at least in sections, a coating. When the roller is used as intended, the coating provides a web contact side which can be brought into contact with the web of material. The coating includes, or is formed by, at least one metallic or metal-carbidic layer with a first layer component providing a matrix and a second layer component distributed in the matrix. The first layer component has a higher abrasion resistance than the second layer component and the second layer component has a greater thermal conductivity than the first layer component.

摘要: In some examples, a coating may include at least one feature that facilitates visual determination of a thickness of the coating. For example, the coating may include a plurality of microspheres disposed at a predetermined depth of the coating. The plurality of microspheres may define a distinct visual characteristic. By inspecting the coating and viewing at least one of the microspheres, the thickness of the coating may be estimated. In some examples, the plurality of microspheres may be embedded in a matrix material, and the distinct visual characteristic of the microspheres may be different than the visual characteristic of the matrix material. In other examples, the at least one feature may include at least one distinct layer in the coating system that includes a distinct visual characteristic, such as a color of the distinct layer.

摘要: A method of forming a film layer and a substrate comprising the film layer to reduce occurrence of defects and improve the quality of the film layer are described. The method of forming a film layer comprises forming a plurality of sub-film layers of a same material overlapped with each other on a substrate by multiple steps to constitute the film layer, wherein each time a sub-film layer is formed, the newly-formed sub-film layer is cleaned immediately. The substrate comprises a film layer formed by the above method.

摘要: This invention relates to thermally sprayed coatings having an amorphous-nanocrystalline-microcrystalline composition structure, said thermally sprayed coating comprising from about 1 to about 95 volume percent of an amorphous phase, from about 1 to about 80 volume percent of a nanocrystalline phase, and from about 1 to about 90 volume percent of a microcrystalline phase, and wherein said amorphous phase, nanocrystalline phase and microcrystalline phase comprise about 100 volume percent of said thermally sprayed coating. This invention also relates to methods for producing the coatings, thermal spray processes for producing the coatings, and articles coated with the coatings. The thermally sprayed coatings of this invention provide enhanced wear and corrosion resistance for articles used in severe environments (e.g., landing gears, airframes, ball valves, gate valves (gates and seats), pot rolls, and work rolls for paper processing).

摘要: A welding process involves a fixture for holding a workpiece and a welder, or welding electrode. The fixture imposes ultrasonic vibration on the workpiece. The welder vibrates during vibration, and is operable at a first voltage for welding and a second voltage for peening. The peening may occur while the weld metal is crystallizing. The welding process may be a process of welding two parts together, or of filling a groove or other feature, or of applying or restoring a surface, or of applying a hard facing or ceramic to a parent metal or object. The weld metal may be the same, or substantially the same, as the parent metal, or it may be different. The different material may be a ceramic material.
